  • Patent number: 9819185
Abstract: In the present legacy electrical power generation and distribution system, the power quality delivered to end consumers is being degraded by a number of disruptive technologies and legislative impacts; especially with the rapidly increasing myriad of privately owned and operated domestic and commercial distributed energy generation (DEG) devices connected at any point across a low voltage (LV) distribution network. The present invention bypasses this increasing critical DEG problem by offering a solution comprising an energy processing unit (EPU) that is installed at the electrical power point of use (POU).

  • Publication number: 20170281993
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition, textile, and mask for reducing the inhalation of pollutants. The composition includes an aqueous solution of an inorganic iodide compound, a metal phthalocyanine, and a polymeric binder. The inorganic iodide can be cuprous iodide, the metal phthalocyanine can be iron phthalocyanine, and the polymeric binder can be polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol. This pollutant-inactivating composition neutralizes pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, volatile organic compounds and other unpleasant airborne agents, without requiring elevated temperatures or bulky canisters containing adsorbents. Optionally, a humectant can also be incorporated into the coating solution to retain moisture in the active filter matrix, which enhances the activity of the composition to inactivate oxidizing gases and other toxic constituents of air pollution.

  • Patent number: 9765610
Abstract: A coiled tubing deployment system includes an offshore rig having a reel positioned thereon and coiled tubing wound on the reel. A guide arch receives the coiled tubing from the reel and a monitoring support guide fixed to the offshore rig receives and directs the coiled tubing into water. The monitoring support guide has a frame and at least two hydraulic rams. A depth counter measures the coiled tubing deployed from the reel and generates length measurement signals, and sensors coupled to the at least two hydraulic rams measure real-time lateral movement of the coiled tubing with respect to the monitoring support guide as the coiled tubing is deployed into the water and thereby generate sensor signals. A data acquisition system receives and processes the length measurement and sensor signals to provide an output signal indicative of real-time bending fatigue of the coiled tubing at select locations along the coiled tubing.

  • Patent number: 9712048
Abstract: A computer-implementable control algorithm that measures: 1) the reactive power; 2) the power factor; 3) the voltage; and 4) the line frequency. The algorithm calculates the differential compensation capacitance required that is either positive (capacitance to be added), or negative (capacitance to be removed). The new compensation capacitance is calculated from the sum or difference of the differential compensation capacitance and the current compensation capacitance. The algorithm compares the capacitor switching bit pattern for the current compensation capacitance and the capacitor switching bit pattern for the new compensation capacitance, and selects a capacitor switching bit map accordingly. The capacitor switch combination for the new compensation capacitance is switched in incrementally according to the capacitor switching bit map. To reach the selected capacitor switch combination, only one switch is switched at a time to minimize the line transient noise.

  • Publication number: 20170185374
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a media system communicates with an aggregate device that includes multiple media output devices. When providing media data for presentation, the system adjusts for device clock drift by resampling the media data provided to a media output device based at least in part on a device clock rate difference between a device clock of one of the media output devices and a device clock of another of the media output devices.

  • Publication number: 20170141692
Abstract: An energy saving alternate current (AC) series voltage regulator comprises an AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator, a bypass contactor (K1), a bidirectional AC semiconductor device (S1) connected in parallel with the bypass contactor and a control circuitry. Under the condition of an input AC mains voltage (Vin) drops below a specified and set optimum energy savings voltage or a lower selected voltage point, the control circuitry transitions both the slow bypass contactor and the fast bidirectional AC semiconductor device, then the AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator are switched out to save the AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator internal power electronics usage. Under this condition, the lower input AC mains voltage is directly delivered to an electrical load by the contactor bypass system, hence achieving more energy savings.

The present invention bypasses this increasing critical DEG problem by offering a solution comprising an energy processing unit (EPU) that is installed at the customer's electrical power point of use (POU). And because of the controlled tightly voltage regulated output of the EPU, significant energy savings can be achieved through dynamic voltage control, utilizing the CVR effect, reduced reactive power demand, and reduced or eliminated peak demand billings.

  • Patent number: 9540220
Abstract: The embodiments of the invention are directed to a device and method for moving a load from a first height at a first location to a second height at a second location. The device includes a platform having a top surface and a bottom surface, and opposed guide members extending from the bottom surface of the platform and oriented along and parallel to the length of the platform. The device further includes a support member slidably engaged with the guide members, the support member capable of extending beyond the length of the platform or retracting beneath the platform. The device further includes a lift assembly having a frame and a controller. The frame is pivotably secured to the lower surface of the support member. The frame has a pair of parallel, opposed, leg assemblies where the height of the leg assembly is adjustable, and the controller controls the height of the leg assemblies.
