  • Publication number: 20010015130
Abstract: A film forming method for a compressor and a part of the compressor to be formed with a film are disclosed. A paint container (36) is arranged above a rotary holding mechanism (34) with a swash plate (15) of the compressor mounted thereon. A lubrication paint (37) in the paint container (36) is dripped on the end surface (152) of the swash plate (15) through a dripping unit (38). The swash plate (15) is rotated at high speed by the operation of a motor (M) so that the surplus portion of the lubrication paint (37) on the end surface (152) is removed by centrifugal force. The lubrication paint (37) remaining on the end surface (152) with the surplus portion thereof removed by centrifugal force has a uniform film thickness.

  • Patent number: 6186048
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a rotor, which is fixed to a drive shaft, and a pivotal swash plate, which is supported on the drive shaft and slides in an axial direction along the drive shaft. A hinge mechanism is located between the rotor and the swash plate. The hinge mechanism rotates the swash plate integrally with the rotor and guides the pivoting and the sliding motion of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a swing arm, which extends from the swash plate. The swash plate is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy material. The swing arm is separate from the swash plate and is made of iron-based metal material. Therefore, while the swash plate is light, the hinge mechanism is strong.

  • Patent number: 6179578
Abstract: A compressor includes a compressing mechanism for compressing refrigerant gas and an oil separator for separating the oil from the gas. The separated oil is used to lubricate the compressor. The compressor has a discharge passage to permit refrigerant gas to flow out of the compressor, a recess located in the discharge passage, a plug press fitted in the recess and a supply passage for returning the separated oil to the compressor. The plug and the recess define a separation chamber having a circular cross-section and an annular chamber. The separation chamber is connected with the annular chamber by an outlet passage formed in the plug. The refrigerant gas swirls along the wall of the separation chamber, which separates the oil from the gas. Since the plug is press fitted in the recess, installation of the plug is facilitated. This structure also prevents the plug from loosening.

  • Patent number: 6149397
Abstract: In a variable displacement compressor of the invention, cylinder bores (111) and a crankcase (121) are formed in a housing, single-ended pistons (37) are fitted in the cylinder bores (111), and a cam plate (23) is provided in the crankcase (121). The displacement capacity of the compressor is varied by controlling the angle of inclination of the cam plate (23) in accordance with the difference between the internal pressure of the crankcase (121) and an suction pressure present on both sides of each single-ended piston (37). A dampening or muffler chamber (65) is provided downstream of an output channel (114) through which a refrigerant gas discharged from the cylinder bores (111) passes. A check valve (69) which opens and closes in accordance with a pressure difference between upstream and downstream sides of the output channel (114) is provided in the output channel (114), upstream of the muffler chamber (65).

  • Patent number: 6053081
Abstract: A method for machining a variable displacement compressor piston. The piston is connected to a swash plate by a pair of semi-spherical shoes. One end of the piston has a slot for receiving the swash plate. The slot includes a pair of opposed walls. Each wall has a concave spherical recess for supporting one of the shoes. When forming the recesses, a tool having an asymmetrical spherical cutter is placed between the slot walls in the piston. Then, the piston is rotated about a machining axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the piston and intersects the midpoint between the walls. Then, the tool is moved such that the center of the cutter is located on the rotation axis of the piston. This forms the recesses on the walls such that the recesses conform to a single sphere, the center of which is located on the axis of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6010313
Abstract: A compressor includes pistons slidably accommodated in cylinder bores. A head and a skirt are formed at the ends of the piston. The head has a peripheral surface that always contacts the inner surface of the cylinder bore. The skirt is coupled with a swash plate. An annular space opens to the side of the piston. The annular space is located between the head and the skirt. A recess is located on the inner wall of a front housing and extends longitudinally in the axial direction of the piston. A projection is integrally formed on the skirt of the piston to engage with the recess. Rotation of the piston about its axis with respect to the cylinder bore is restricted by the engagement of the projection with the recess. A force acting on the piston in a direction transverse to the axis of the piston is received by the recess through the projection.

  • Patent number: 5941161
Abstract: A compressor having a cylinder bores and pistons are disclosed. Each piston moves in the associated cylinder to compress gas therein. Each piston slides on an inner peripheral wall of an associated cylinder to seal a compression chamber. Each piston includes an outer peripheral surface and cavities. The outer peripheral surface has a seal to seal the cylinder and a pressure receiving surface to receive reaction forces from the wall of the cylinder. A low friction layer is formed on the pressure receiving surface. The layer facilitates the sliding movement of the piston with respect to the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5823294
Abstract: A compressor compresses gas containing misted oil. The compressor has a drive plate located in a crank chamber and mounted on a drive shaft and a piston operably coupled to the drive plate and located in a cylinder bore. The drive plate converts rotation of the drive shaft to reciprocating movement of the piston in the cylinder bore to vary the capacity of the cylinder bore. The piston compresses gas supplied to the cylinder bore and discharges the compressed gas from the compressor by way of a discharge chamber and a discharge passage. An oil separating mechanism is disposed midway in the discharge passage to separate the oil from the gas flowing in the discharge passage. A storing chamber is defined in the lower portion of the separating mechanism to store the oil separated from the gas. A supplying passage connects the storing chamber with the crank chamber to supply the oil to the crank chamber from the storing chamber. A supplying valve is disposed midway in the supplying passage.

  • Patent number: 5816134
Abstract: A compressor has a piston (11) that reciprocates between a top dead center and a bottom dead center in a cylinder bore (2a) by means of a driving body (9) mounted on a rotary shaft (6) in a crank chamber (5) during the rotation of the rotary shaft (6). The piston (11) has an outer circumferential surface that slides against an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder bore (2a). The outer circumferential surface of the piston (11) is provided with a groove (17; 44; 46) extending in the direction of an axis (S) of the piston (11). During reciprocation of the piston (11), lubricating oil adhered to the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder bore (2a) is collected in the groove (17; 44; 46). When the groove (17; 44; 46) is exposed to the inside of the crank chamber (5) from the cylinder bore (2a) during the reciprocation of the piston (11), the lubricating oil in the groove (17; 44; 46) is supplied to the inside of the crank chamber (5).

  • Patent number: RE35878
Abstract: A variable capacity single headed piston swash plate type refrigerant compressor is provided with a double fulcrum hinge mechanism having a pair of hinges for providing a pivotal connection between a rotary support element of a drive shaft and a swash plate assembly, causing reciprocation of a plurality of single headed pistons in cylinder bores for compressing a refrigerant gas. The pair of hinges of the double fulcrum hinge mechanism cooperate to absorb reaction forces of the compression and suction of the refrigerant gas acting from the pistons on the swash plate assembly to thereby prevent application of a local load to a sleeve element on which the swash plate assembly is turnably mounted.
