Abstract: A tape printing apparatus includes: a print unit for printing on a printing tape; a support information storage region which stores in advance multiple pieces of support information about the tape printing apparatus itself and the printing tape; a selection key for selecting any one piece of support information from the multiple pieces of support information stored in the support information storage region; a display screen for displaying the support information; and a control unit. The control unit reads the one piece of support information, which is selected by the selection key, from the support information storage region and causes the read information to be displayed on the display screen.

Abstract: There are defined a reference size and at least one predetermined enlarged size each corresponding to an integral multiple of the reference size, as alternatives to be selectively set to a print size of a printing area of a printing object on which is to be printed part or all of character groups including at least one character. One of the reference size and the at least one predetermined enlarged size is set to the print size: At least one predetermined portion different from one another of the character groups respectively is allocated to at least one divisional printing area formed by dividing the printing area by the reference size. There is formed data of at least one print image corresponding to the at least one predetermined portion of the character groups allocated respectively to the at least one divisional printing area. The at least one print image is printed respectively on the at least one divisional printing area of the printing object.

Abstract: A printing apparatus for printing characters on a printing tape for use as a label to be adhered to an article for adhesion has a display for displaying characters inputted into the printing apparatus, a printer for printing the inputted characters on the printing tape, an automatic setting device for automatically setting a print size of the characters according to a tape width of a loaded printing tape, and selection setting device for selectively setting the print size of the characters from among a plurality of print sizes determined in stages. The selection setting device has a fixed-size setting device capable of selectively setting a specific print size corresponding to a selected concrete article for adhesion.

Abstract: In a method of processing a character in a tape printer, the tape printer has an editing storage area including an editing operation sub-area for editing an inputted character string and a registration sub-area for registering and saving a character string to be used later. The method is made up of a first step of securing a temporary area for temporarily storing a character string outside the editing storage area, a second step of storing a character string stored in the editing operation sub-area into the temporary area after the first step, a third step of storing a character string stored in the registration sub-area into the editing operation sub-area after the second step, a fourth step of storing the character string stored in the temporary area into the registration sub-area after the third step, and a fifth step of releasing the temporary area after the fourth step.

Abstract: There are provided a printing apparatus and a printing method which are capable of setting the print line width on a tape such that the widths of the print lines are adapted to the ruled line spacing defined by a predetermined standard, as well as discriminating and printing only designated data on a group-by-group basis. The printing apparatus is capable of printing characters of a desired size on a print medium while feeding the print medium contained therein. A print line width is set such that the print line width is adapted to a ruled line spacing defined by a predetermined standard. The characters are printed in the set print line width.

Abstract: There are provided a printing method and apparatus as well as provide a label-producing method and apparatus that are capable of adding an amusing effect and topicality resulting therefrom to printing personally performed by a user. A predetermined print instruction is issued to print a desired image entered intentionally, on a printing medium. When the predetermined print instruction is issued, the desired image is printed, and if a predetermined condition which cannot be intentionally set by an instruction of a user is satisfied at the same time, an unintended image which cannot be generated intentionally is also printed together with the desired image.

Abstract: There are provided a character printing method and device. There are defined print size alternatives to be selectively set to a print size of a printing area of a printing object on which is to be printed part or all of a character group including at least one character. One of the print size alternatives is set to the print size. Print image data is formed by extracting part or all of the character group such that the part or all of the character group is adapted to the print size. A print image is printed on the printing object based on the print image data.

Abstract: Tape printing device 1 is provided with the second and third screen modes M1 and M2, in which the input document and its layout can be simultaneously displayed on the same screen. These modes can be switched by operating layout image simultaneous display key 23. The user can enter a document while viewing its layout image displayed on the same screen to obtain the desired layout. Thus, the present invention provides a user-friendly character information processing device in which the user can enter a document while viewing the layout image on screen to obtain the desired layout.

Abstract: There is provided a text control method and apparatus. A predetermined format is defined in which an arbitrary one item of text data which, at least as an object to be printed, can be printed in one line, one paragraph formed by a plurality of lines, or a plurality of paragraphs, can be displayed in one line when the item of text data is set to an object to be displayed. L items, where L is an integer equal to or larger than 2, of text data are stored, according to the predetermined format, each of the L items being text data which can be printed in at least one line and can be set to an object to be processed independently. In a predetermined display screen for displaying J lines including a displayed line where a cursor is positioned, where J is an integer satisfying the relationship of 1≦J≦L, an image is displayed which is representative of at least part of at least one of the L items of text data stored, as the object to be displayed.

Abstract: There is provided a printing apparatus and method which is capable of easily printing question data and answer data in a predetermine format enabling relevancy therebetween to be visually recognized. Stored data including question data and answer data which are stored in a manner correlated with each other are read out. A matrix having elements of M (≧1) characters in one of row and column directions (X direction) by L (≧2) characters in the other (Y direction) is set as a text matrix. Text data of characters in the text matrix is stored in correlation with a position of each character in the text matrix. Abstract: There are provided an address printing method and address printing device for a tape printing apparatus, which are capable of properly printing an address printable on a tape having a specific tape width not only on the tape but also on a tape having another tape width. There are also provided an address label producing method and an address label producing device using the address printing method and device. A tape to be printed is mounted, the tape width thereof is detected, information of n items (n is an integer equal to or larger than 2) which are components of an address of a mail article is registered as address information, and address printing is instructed. When the address printing is instructed, if the tape width is a first tape width, item images representative of information of the n respective items is arranged as respective lines of a single block based on the address information to print the item image.

Part or whole of basic image data formed of a dot matrix is stored in a basic image data storage device of the image display device. Abstract: A code entry method obtains a desired character from one of a plurality of code-character conversion tables associated with different code systems in which one or more codes correspond to respective different characters and one or more characters are identified by different codes in the respective code systems. A code corresponding to the desired character in one of the plurality of code-character conversion tables is input. Different eligible characters identified by the input code in the respective plurality of code-character conversion tables are found, retrieved and displayed on a display screen. The desired character is selected from the displayed retrieved eligible characters. Abstract: Various commands and data are input to an image display device via an input block. Part or whole of basic image data formed of a dot matrix is stored in a basic image data storage device of the image display device. Abstract: There is provided a label-making apparatus and method that is capable of making a label with an accurate length depending on a situation before and after printing. The label-making apparatus is capable of printing an entered character string on a tape as a printing medium while advancing the tape. After printing the character string on the tape, the label-making apparatus cuts the tape to a length set beforehand at a predetermined cutting position, thereby making a label. In response to a non-printing feed instruction which instructs non-printing feed of the tape, feed of the tape is carried out without printing thereon to advance the tape by a predetermined length.
