  • Patent number: 4963230
Abstract: Disclosed herein is agricultural paper to be made into pots for raising seedlings. It is made up of a first layer made chiefly of natural pulp and a second layer made of synthetic fibers having a basis weight of 3-15 g/m.sup.2, said first layer and second layer being joined to each other by the wet papermaking process which intertwines the fibers of the two layers at their joining interface. The second layer is formed by fusion bonding composite synthetic fibers of polymers having different plasticizing temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4962079
Abstract: This invention provides an overcoat composition for a heat-sensitive record material comprising as an effective component thereof an emulsion of graft copolymer prepared by graft-copolymerizing methyl (meth)acrylate (A), a lower hydroxalkyl (meth)acrylate (B) and (meth)acrylic acid (C) with a polyvinyl alcohol in the presence of water and a neutralization salt of diisobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer; a heat-sensitive record material having a heat-sensitive layer coated over its surface with an overcoat composition defined above; and a process for preparing a heat-sensitive record material comprising coating the surface of the heat-sensitive layer of a heat-sensitive record material with an overcoat composition defined above.

  • Patent number: 4665740
Abstract: A combustion process sensor for detecting combustion processes occurring in a combustion chamber of an engine has a generally tubular mounting casing to be screwed into a threaded hole in the combustion chamber wall and a quartz-glass rod axially extending in the mounting casing and held in position therein. The casing includes two axially aligned generally tubular members rigidly secured together at their own ends. The quartz-glass rod has a first portion remote from a sensing end thereof adapted to be exposed to combustion flame in the combustion chamber, and a second portion between the first portion and the sensing end. The first portion is secured to one of the two tubular members of the casing, while the second portion is supported from the casing only by a vibration damping material disposed in engagement with the outer peripheral surface of the quartz-glass rod and the inner peripheral surface of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4379870
Abstract: Reinforcing material for hydraulic substances such as cement, mortar, concrete or the like and a method for producing it. The reinforcing material consists essentially of an elongated product of a synthetic resin having protrusions on its surface and which was obtained by extruding and subsequent stretching. The method comprises mixing a polyethylene having a melt index of not more than 0.01 at 190.degree. C. under the load of 2.16 Kg with a polyethylene having a melt index of more than 0.01 thereby to obtain a polyethylene mixture having a melt index of 0.01 to 10, melt-extruding the polyethylene mixture under such conditions as to give an extruded product having a jagged surface and stretching the extruded product, whereby the reinforcing material having protrusions on its surface is obtained. Hydraulic substances with the reinforcing material incorporated therein is useful for production of concrete panel, concrete pipe, concrete channel, tetrapod, sleeper, tunnel, etc.

  • Patent number: 4198327
Abstract: A composition having improved adhesion to polar solid materials which comprises(A) 99 to 70 parts by weight of a modified crystalline polyolefin having grafted thereto a monomer selected from the group consisting of unsaturated carboxylic acids and their anhydrides, esters, amides imides and metal salts, said crystalline polyolefin having a degree of crystallinity measured by an X-ray analysis, of at least 25% and containing the grafting monomer in an amount of 0.0001 to 3% by weight based on the total amount of the crystalline polyolefin and the grafting monomer; and(B) 1 to 30 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon elastomer.
