Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving signals using multiple frequency band in a wireless communication system are provided, in which a BS determines whether an MS is to use a plurality of FAs, selects the plurality of FAs if it is determined that the MS is to use the plurality of FAs, transmits FA information about the selected FAs to the MS, and transmits and receives signals to and from the MS in the selected FAs.

Abstract: A terminal communicating with at least one wireless communication device determines whether a first data is received from the at least one wireless communication device in a first mode, in which power is supplied to a display portion, determines whether a second data is received during a first time period from the time when the first data is received, and switches to a second mode in which the power supplied to the display portion is blocked according to whether the second data is received.

Abstract: A remote control method and an apparatus for home appliances, wherein a remote controller performs situation recognition using sensors and automatically controls home appliances without a control message from a portable device when communication with the portable device is not possible, are provided. The remote control method is designed for a remote controller managing home appliances installed in a home. The remote control method includes receiving a remote control request from a portable device capable of remotely controlling one or more home appliances, performing, upon reception of the remote control request, situation recognition with respect to the home appliances, and controlling operations of the home appliances based on situation recognition results.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing health data through a user terminal are provided. The method includes inputting a user terminal number for identifying the user terminal, and information of a medical instrument for measuring the health data to a management server interworked with the user terminal, receiving, by a receiver, a security type table mapped onto the user terminal number and comprising a security type code for instructing the health data which the medical instrument has measured to be stored in a first memory without security or in a second memory with security, from the management server, and storing the health data in the first memory or the second memory, which the security type code instructs, through determining the security type code of the security type table when the health data is received from the medical instrument.

Abstract: An Internet Protocol (IP) address acquisition in a broadband wireless communication system is disclosed. A terminal includes a driver for loading one of a plurality Media Access Control (MAC) addresses for a multi-Frequency Allocation (FA) connection when the terminal is initialized; an interface for registering the loaded MAC address to use in an upper layer of a MAC layer; and a manager for acquiring an IP address using the registered MAC address when a network entry for at least one FA is complete.

Abstract: A method for configuring a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) in a Home Area Network (HAN) is provided. The method includes registering the HEMS to a smart meter, and managing an energy profile of an HAN device including the smart meter connected to the HAN. Accordingly, a Demand Response (DR) may not normally operate between devices even if energy profile differs from one device to another.

Abstract: A method, performed by a mobile management entity (MME), for providing a voice call service to a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system and the MME are provided. The method includes receiving, from a mobile management entity (MME), a first message for paging to provide the voice call service to the UE; and sending, to the MME, a second message including a cause associated with a domain change from a packet switching (PS) domain to a circuit switching (CS) domain, wherein, if the MME receives the second message, a third message for requesting suspension of a bearer to provide a service for the UE is sent to a gateway in the PS domain.

Abstract: An apparatus in a Base station (BS) and an apparatus in a Mobile Station (MS) are provided for allocating and requesting, respectively, uplink resources in a wireless communication system. The apparatus in the MS includes a transmitter for sending, to a base station, a predetermined Channel Quality Information CHannel (CQICH) codeword over a pre-allocated CQICH in a silence period, when an uplink bandwidth for an extended real-time Polling Service (ertPS) is not allocated to the mobile station, to inform the base station that the mobile station has data to send; and a receiver for receiving, from the base station, information related to an uplink bandwidth supporting a maximum rate allocated by the base station, in response to the CQICH codeword.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing handover in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. A communication method includes broadcasting, by a Base Station (BS), a neighbor advertisement message including neighbor cell information through each Frequency Allocation (FA); analyzing the neighbor cell advertise message by a plurality of Media Access Control (MAC) processors of an Mobile Station (MS) to obtain FA configuration information of each neighbor cell; independently determining handover by the MAC processors of the MS; generating the start of handover by one MAC which first determines handover; and determining a handover target by the remaining MAC processors so that handover is performed to different FAs of the same BS of the MAC processor which generates the start of handover by using the FA configuration information of each neighbor cell.
