  • Publication number: 20170050780
Abstract: A closure (20) is provided to selectively permit or restrict communication between the exterior and the interior of a system that has an opening between the exterior and interior. The closure (20) includes a closure body (24) that defines an access passage (30) and a membrane (60) that initially occludes the access passage (30). The connection of the membrane (60) to the body (24) is defined by a tearable portion (68) of material that defines a tear path along which the material can be torn. The tear path has; (A) a first separation path (80) where separation of the membrane (60) from the body (24) initially originates; and (B) a second separation path (90) where separation of the membrane (60) from the body (24) terminates. The second separation path (90) has a generally tapered configuration.

  • Publication number: 20160272380
Abstract: A closure assembly (20) that includes a cap or overcap (28) and a fitment (24) for a container is provided wherein the fitment (24) has a laterally projecting shear member (40), and the overcap (28) has an aperture (74) for initially receiving the shear member (40) when the overcap (28) and fitment (24) are in an initially assembled orientation or condition. The aperture (74) and the shear member (40) cooperate in the initially assembled orientation such that when subjected to a flow of a sterilizing gas, turbulence is created in the sterilizing gas flow to enhance sterilization of the combination. The closure assembly (20) may, instead, or additionally, be provided wherein the overcap (28) has an elongate, hollow plug (58) for establishing a first seal between the fitment (24) and the overcap (28) in the initially assembled orientation, and the wherein overcap (28) has a skirt (50) for establishing a second seal between the fitment (24) and the overcap (28) in the initially assembled orientation.

  • Patent number: 9380248
Abstract: An example system includes a remote control and a host device. The remote control is configured to communication through a first communication interface and a second communication interface. The host device is configured to retrieve command information from a remote computer through a third communication interface, and responsive to one or more requests from the remote control, to transfer the command information to the remote control through the first communication interface, the remote control configured to control a plurality of remote devices through the second communication interface, using the command information.

  • Patent number: 9205343
Abstract: A musical toy includes a vehicle traveling on a track which includes visual indicia representative of a standard nine note musical staff. Note tiles having first fastener halves may engage with second fasteners at predetermined locations on the track corresponding with the locations of notes on the represented staff. Switch operators facing down from the train may sense the note tiles to play the music so represented by the note tiles and track arranged in the staff and note configuration. The note tiles and track fastener features could be constructed in a format similar to the familiar stud and tube blocks of the popular Lego® system. An additional row of fastener halves could reside on the track adjacent to the main musical staff or outside the rails to allow for placement of tiles that could trigger sharp or flat notes, standard chords or perhaps percussive beat patterns.

  • Patent number: 8141731
Abstract: The present dispensing closure system includes a closure base, which can be configured for securement to an associated container, and a lid hingedly connected to the closure base for movement between closed and open positions, wherein in the closed position of the lid, the lid coacts to close and seal a dispensing orifice defined by the closure base. Convenient manipulation of the lid between its closed and open positions is facilitated by the provision of a sliding element mounted on the closure base for sliding, reciprocable movement generally laterally of the closure base. Notably, the sliding element includes a latch portion which coacts with the lid to positively retain the lid in its closed position until manipulation of the sliding element by a user to unlatch the lid. The sliding element includes one or more camming surfaces which coact with the lid to urge it from its closed position to its open position.

The system includes a base for extending from the container at the opening. The base has a receiving passage and an annular sealing flange extending radially inwardly around the passage. A movable spout is mounted in the base receiving passage and has a grippable discharge end that projects axially outwardly from the base receiving passage. The spout has a dispensing passage extending through the spout and has a peripheral sealing surface that is sealingly engaged with the base annular sealing flange. The spout also has a piercing element at an axially inward end of the spout. A cam track is located in either the base or the spout. A cam follower is located on the other one of the base and spout, and the cam follower is engaged in the cam track.
