Patent number: 11959414Abstract: Operating a gaseous fuel engine includes spark-igniting gaseous hydrogen fuel and air, and propagating combustion gases of the spark-ignited mixture outwardly from a spark gap. The propagating combustion gases are impinged upon a cone surface of a piston so as to limit a flame area of the propagating combustion gases. Additional gaseous hydrogen fuel and air is ignited in the combustion cylinder by way of the propagating combustion gases to urge a piston toward a bottom-dead-center position.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2022Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Eric Lee Schroeder, Andrew Joseph Loetz, Jaswinder Singh, Yongxian Gu, Jonathan William Anders, Naga Krishna Chaitanya Kavuri

Patent number: 11953548Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a scan-based architecture for register-transfer-level (RTL) or gate-level designs that improves the security of scan chain-based design-for-testability (DFT) structures. In various embodiments, the scan-based architecture includes invisible scan chains that are hidden in such a way that an attacker cannot easily identify or locate the invisible scan chains for exploitation and revealing internal secure information of the design. The invisible scan chains are dynamically configurable into a scan chain with select flip-flops, such that scan paths of the invisible scan chains may be different between different designs, chips, or testing operations. Various embodiments further employ key-based obfuscation by combining a scan control finite state machine with existing state machines within a design, which improves design security against unauthorized use and increases confidentiality.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2023Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: University of Florida Research Foundation, IncorporatedInventors: Swarup Bhunia, Pravin Dasharth Gaikwad, Jonathan William Cruz, Sudipta Paria

Patent number: 11944619Abstract: This invention is related to the field of PCSK9 biology and the composition and methods of use of small organic compounds as ligands for modulation of PCSK9 biological activity. In particular, the invention provides compositions of small organic compounds that modulate circulating levels of low density lipoproteins by altering the conformation of the protein PCSK9. Binding these small organic compound ligands to PCSK9 alters the conformation of the protein, modifying the interaction between PCSK9 and an endogenous low density lipoprotein receptor, and can lead to reduced or increased levels of circulating LDL-cholesterol. High LDL-cholesterol levels are associated with increased risk for heart disease. Low LDL-cholesterol levels may be problematic in other conditions, such as liver dysfunction; thus, there is also utility for small organic compound ligands that can raise LDL levels.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2020Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: SRX Cardio, LLCInventors: Thomas E. Barta, Jonathan William Bourne, Kyle D. Monroe, Michael M. Muehlemann, Anjali Pandey, Simeon Bowers

Publication number: 20240086180Abstract: An Internet of Things (IoT) device is deployed with embedded software that may comprise multiple components. After deployment, updated versions of one or more components of the embedded software may become available. The IoT device maintains a manifest of the installed components. Periodically, the IoT device requests an updated copy of the manifest from an upgrade server. The installed manifest and the updated manifest are compared to determine if updated versions of any components are available. If so, the IoT device requests only the components to be updated. Prior to beginning the copying of the upgraded components, an upgrade flag is set. The IoT device then begins copying the received components into memory, replaces the manifest with the updated manifest, and clears the upgrade flag.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Peter Hartley, Philip Michaelson-Yeates, Jonathan Williams, Hugo Fiennes, Tejas Patil, Joseph Birr-Pixton
