  • Publication number: 20030175005
Abstract: The present invention relates in general to optical waveguide devices, which preferably are planar, e.g., optical arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs), multiplexers/demultiplexers, optical add/drop multiplexers and the like. More particularly, the present invention provides integrated optical waveguide devices having central wavelengths (or channel wavelengths) which are temperature insensitive in that they do not or do almost not shift upon temperature variations in the environment. Such devices are also called athermalized or athermal devices. Preferably, most or all parts of such devices including waveguides, cladding material and the substrate itself consist of organic polymeric materials. The devices of the invention substantially remedy the problems encountered with the limitations and disadvantages of common devices as known in the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20030136586
Abstract: An apparatus having a housing (5) that shields a front of a percussion drive (1) against the environment, and into which a drive driven tool (3) projects. An exchangeable outer seal (10) is disposed at the housing opening (6c) for the tool (3), surrounds the tool transversely to its longitudinal axis (3a) with spacing, and is moveable in this transverse direction. An inner seal (11) is disposed behind the outer seal (10), and rests elastically against the tool (3) outside of its tool guide (2). The inner seal (11) is exchangeably secured to an elastic extension (12) of the tool guide (2) that surrounds the percussive tool (3) in the region of the inner seal (11) with a spacing larger than the largest transverse displacement of the tool (3). The extension (12) is an independent, elastic support that forms a detachable connection with the tool guide (2) at one end.

  • Patent number: 6576930
Abstract: The light-radiating semiconductor component has a radiation-emitting semiconductor body and a luminescence conversion element. The semiconductor body emits radiation in the ultraviolet, blue and/or green spectral region and the luminescence conversion element converts a portion of the radiation into radiation of a longer wavelength. This makes it possible to produce light-emitting diodes which radiate polychromatic light, in particular white light, with only a single light-emitting semiconductor body. A particularly preferred luminescence conversion dye is YAG:Ce.

  • Patent number: 6546761
Abstract: A compound needle (1) is provided with a slider (8) having two slider springs (11, 12), whose ends constitute an open funnel pointing toward the hook (3). The ends, or legs (21, 22), constituting the funnel, are flattened. Therefore, starting at a starting point, the thickness of the material is reduced in the tapered area (29) toward the ends of the slider springs (11, 12). By means of this a correct functioning of the compound needle is also provided if the slider (8) is not completely centered. Moreover, it is possible to improve the easy movement of the slider (8) in the slider slit in that the funnel, formed by the legs (21, 22), can be embodied to be narrower at a constant width, than without the taper of the slider springs (11, 12).

  • Publication number: 20030047410
Abstract: A clutch system includes a clutch device with at least one clutch arrangement for installation in a motor vehicle drive train between a drive unit and a transmission. The at least one clutch arrangement is actuated by a slave cylinder using a pressure medium which is supplied to the clutch device by a first pump. A further medium is also supplied to the clutch device by a second pump arrangement as an operating medium used during operation of the clutch device. The further medium is selectively supplied as a pressure medium to the slave cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6503339
Abstract: The invention relates to a method to produce non-grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet made of thin-slab or slab casting with low specific total loss and high polarisation and favourable mechanical properties. It is a characteristic of the invention that the steel slabs are hot rolled either directly from the casting heat or after a reheating to T≧900 ° C. and two or more metal forming passes are performed in the two-phase region austenite/ferrite in the course of finishing rolling.

  • Patent number: 6387345
Abstract: In the process for working up the reaction gas consisting of chlorine, hydrogen chloride, oxygen and water vapour produced in a chlorine reactor, the reaction gas leaving the reactor 1 is first cooled until the water of reaction and hydrogen chloride condense in the form of concentrated hydrochloric acid. The concentrated hydrochloric acid is then separated from the reaction gas in a phase separation column 3 and discharged. The remaining reaction gas, from which the substantial proportion of the water and a proportion of the hydrogen chloride has been removed, is then post-dried in a drying tower 6. The post-dried reaction gas consisting of chlorine, oxygen and hydrogen chloride is then compressed to 1 to 30 bar by a compressor 7. In the subsequent stage, the compressed reaction gas is passed through a cooled chlorine recuperator 8, wherein the chlorine is very largely liquefied.
