  • Patent number: 5927171
Abstract: A bench circular saw machine for cutting a material including a base upon which the material is supported, an arm interconnected to the base, a tube member, and a main body having a circular saw for cutting the material and a motor operatively associated with the circular saw for driving the circular saw. The main body is pivotally supported on the arm such that the main body can be pivoted toward the base and the circular saw can cut the material. The main body has a discharge port through which sawdust formed by the circular saw during a cutting operation is discharged from the main body. The tube member is disposed adjacent to the discharge port and is associated with the discharge port so as to guide the sawdust into the discharge port. The tube member is also pivotable relative to the material such that an angle of the tube member relative to the material can be varied.

  • Patent number: 5839339
Abstract: A miter saw includes a support mechanism for supporting a miter saw unit relative to a base in such a manner that the miter saw unit is both vertically and laterally pivotable. A position determining mechanism serves to selectively determine the position of the saw unit at any of positions including a vertical position where a saw blade is positioned substantially vertically relative to the base, and leftward and rightward pivoted positions where the saw blade is inclined laterally leftwardly and laterally rightwardly from the vertical position by a predetermined angle, respectively. The position determining mechanism includes movable side stopper members and fixed side stopper members on which the movable side stopper members abut, respectively. The movable side stopper members are mounted on a movable member which pivots laterally with the miter saw unit. The fixed side stopper members are mounted on a fixed member which is non-laterally pivotally movably mounted on the base.

  • Patent number: 5819623
Abstract: A pair of symmetrical positioning clamps are provided for use in a table-top circular saw. Each positioning clamp essentially comprises a support plate with an increasing width toward an abutment plate which is connected to the support plate at right angles. Also, an elongated slot is formed approximately along the center line of the support plate. Furthermore, the support plate is arranged obliquely relative to the abutment plate so that the center line of the elongated slot is at an angle of 60.degree. to the abutment plate. The two positioning clamps are fixed to both wing portions of the circular saw by tightening wing bolts inserted into holes in the wing portions via the elongated slots. To clamp a work piece, the wing bolts are loosened with the work piece pressed against a fence of the circular saw. Then, the abutment plates are slid until they firmly abut on the work piece.

  • Patent number: 5813903
Abstract: A sander (1) has a motor (3) with a motor shaft (4) mounted in a bearing box (11) via an eccentric ball bearing (10). Coupled to the bearing box (11) is a pad (12) having a bulged square shape in a horizontal cross section. The sander (1) further includes a skirt (6) with an opening (6a) on which a synthetic (polyurethane rubber) brake ring (17) is mounted. The brake ring (17) comprises an outer peripheral portion (18) and a plurality of contact portions (19) disposed at regular intervals around the outer peripheral portion (18). Each contact portion (19) is bulged toward the center of the brake ring (17) with both ends connected to the outer peripheral portion (18). Also, the contact portions (19) are elastic so as to deform in the radial direction. The contact portions (19) together form a through-hole (21) which is slightly smaller than the bearing box (11) for receiving the bearing box.

  • Patent number: 5782153
Abstract: In a desk-top circular saw comprising a base, a turntable mounted on the base, an arm provided on the rear of the base, and a saw blade assembly pivotally attached to the upper end of the arm with a pivot shaft, a horizontal cylinder is provided in the arm between the pivot shaft and a blade tilting lever. The cylinder penetrates the arm to allow airflow therethrough. Provided in front of the cylinder is a flared member including a bottom plate sloping downward and a pair of side plates, thereby forming a U-like cross section. A chip guide comprising an upper plate and side plates forming an inverted U-like cross section is fastened to the underside of the neck of the saw blade assembly. The chip guide can vertically pivot integrally with the saw blade assembly. The flared member and the chip guide jointly form a chip guide passage for guiding chips into the cylinder for disposal.

  • Patent number: 5697384
Abstract: An internal identification apparatus for animals surely stays in a ruminant without injuring the ruminant. After the ruminant is slaughtered, the apparatus is easily located and collected. The apparatus stays in the first or second stomach of the ruminant. The apparatus has a casing (1) made from material that is resistive to gastric juices in the first or second stomach. The casing (1) has a proper weight and shape so that it stays in the first or second stomach. An antenna (2) is formed internally or externally on the casing (1). The casing (1) incorporates an integrated circuit (3), which includes a memory and a controller for transmitting data stored in the memory through the antenna (2) in response to electromagnetic waves from outside the ruminant. The apparatus enables individual farms to automatically feed cattle and record the data such as weights of cattle, and a cattle market to secure cattle prices and record the quality of meat.

  • Patent number: 5664312
Abstract: To obviate the necessity of a plier or other tool for extracting a driver bit from a screwdriver, and prevent an adjustment sleeve detached from the screwdriver from being lost. The stop ring has an oval dusting opening having a width wider than the distance between the opposite sides of the hexagonal cross section of the driver bit and narrower than the diagonal length of the cross section. After detaching the adjustment sleeve from the screwdriver, the parallel sizes of the oval dusting opening of the stop ring are aligned with the opposite sides of the driver bit, and the stop ring is moved toward the driver bit, until a peripheral groove portion of the driver bit reaches the edge surrounding the dusting opening. By changing the relative angle between the adjustment sleeve and the driver bit, the diagonal part of the driver bit is caught by the edge surrounding the oval dusting opening.

  • Patent number: 5372206
Abstract: A tightening tool includes a drive member rotatably driven by a motor. An intermediate member is interposed between the drive member and a spindle and rotatable with the drive member. A claw clutch is formed between the spindle and the intermediate member and is engageable when the spindle is moved axially through abutment of a bit on a work. A connecting mechanism is interposed between the intermediate member and the drive member for permitting rotation of the intermediate member relative to the drive member within a predetermined range. A biasing member normally keeps the rotational position of the intermediate member relative to the drive member. The rotation of the drive member is transmitted to the intermediate member after the drive member is rotated relative to the intermediate member by a predetermined angle when the claw clutch is engaged by movement of the spindle through abutment of the bit on the work.

  • Patent number: 5355635
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved cut-off machine wherein the length of an abrasive wheel in contact with a work is easily adjustable. The cut-off machine of the invention includes: a base with fixed and movable vises for clamping a work; a pair of joint members being supported by a pair of brackets projecting from the rear end of the base so as to pivotably move within a predetermined angle; an arm attached to the upper portion of the joint members; an abrasive wheel mounted on one end of the arm for cutting the work; a handle fixed to the arm for operating the arm; a motor attached to the arm for driving the abrasive wheel; and a compression spring spanned between the base and the arm. The upper mounting position of the compression spring on the arm is closer to the brackets, compared with the lower mounting position of the compression spring on the base. The reciprocating movement of the arm moves the abrasive wheel in the horizontal direction to the current optimal cutting position.
