  • Patent number: 10244216
Abstract: When projecting a video in conformity to the shape of a three-dimensional object using a projector, a pattern such as a grid is projected and the projected pattern is photographed, and then the position or shape of a projection object is calculated, whereby making it possible to apply appropriate geometric transformation to a projected video. However, when a grid is projected in superposition while video content is being displayed, the grid is visible to a viewer, and that the position or shape of a projection video cannot be calculated while a video content is being displayed. The present invention uses the freedom of color representation and the color redundancy of a color wheel, buries an invisible pattern not visible to human eyes in a video, and photographs the video in synchronism with the rotation of the color wheel, thereby making it possible to discriminate the buried invisible pattern.

  • Publication number: 20190050971
Abstract: An image signal is subjected to image correction performed by an image correction unit on the basis of retinex processing. The image correction unit performs spectral decomposition for the image signal. A retinex unit performs retinex processing for the image signal subjected to the spectral decomposition, and a spectrum synthesis unit synthesizes the image signal output from the retinex unit. A transformation unit performs transformation from a RGB color space to a HSV color space, and an inverse transformation unit performs transformation from the HSV color space to the RGB color space. The transformation unit transforms an input image signal and outputs the transformed image signal to the spectral decomposition unit. The inverse transformation unit receives the output signal from the spectrum synthesis unit and outputs an image correction signal. Spectral decomposition of the image signal in the spectral decomposition unit is hue-based spectral decomposition in the HSV color space.

  • Patent number: 9047829
Abstract: An image display apparatus includes a dimming value determination circuit for determining a dimming value of a backlight based on an input image signal, an image signal compensation circuit for compensating the input image signal supplied to a liquid crystal panel in accordance with the dimming value, and a backlight drive circuit for driving and controlling the backlight in accordance with the dimming value. When the light emitting luminance of the present frame of the backlight increases relative to the light emitting luminance of the previous frame, the backlight drive circuit delays the timing for applying the dimming value of the present frame. This makes it possible to reduce power consumption of the backlight by suppressing deterioration in the image quality in spite of the sharp change in the display image luminance.

  • Patent number: 8957880
Abstract: In a local dimming technology for reducing power consumption of a display device using a backlight as in a liquid crystal display, the backlight is configured by a plurality of independently controllable light sources, an image is divided into areas of the same number as that of the controllable light sources and light emission intensity of the light source is calculated based on a feature value of each area. However, this technology has a problem that when a backlight luminance distribution within each area is not uniform, image quality is deteriorated or a power consumption reduction effect is lowered. In the present invention, the image is divided into areas of the number greater than that of the controllable light sources, and the light emission intensity of each light source is determined based on the feature values of a plurality of areas to reduce the above-described problem.

  • Patent number: 8896638
Abstract: An initial light control value calculation section calculates the backlight's initial light control value K0 according to brightness of an inputted image signal for each area. A black area measurement section measures a black area S by obtaining ratio of the number of pixels satisfying Y?Y0 (Y: brightness signal level, Y0: black level threshold) in the screen. A minimum light control value output section determines a minimum light control value Kmin based on comparison between the measured black area S and a black area threshold S0 and outputs a maximum value permissible for the light control value as the value Kmin when the black area S is the threshold value S0 or less. An LED control signal calculation section outputs a control signal to LED light sources based on a light control value K1 as the higher one of K0 and Kmin.
