  • Publication number: 20100194791
Abstract: For the purpose of obtaining a video signal by suppressing a black float while not consuming an excess electric power therein, not contributing to display of a backlight, a video display apparatus having a plural number of backlights for irradiating lights upon a display panel, comprises a histogram detector for conducting a histogram detection for each display region corresponding to that backlight from an input video signal of one (1) frame, a means for determining a control value of that plural number of backlights depending on a specific picture or video, which is detected by the histogram detector, and a video signal processor for controlling an amount of a controlled light the display panel of a display region, i.e., a put-out region, depending on the backlight control value, which is determined by the means for determining the control value of the backlight.

  • Patent number: 7767298
Abstract: An electrically conductive composite fiber comprising an electrically conductive layer formed of a polyester-based polymer (A) having a melting point of 200° C. or higher and containing from 23 to 33% by weight of electrically conductive carbon black, and a protective layer formed of a polyester-based polymer (B) having a melting point of 210° C. or higher, wherein the difference between the SP value of the (A) and the SP value of the (B) is adjusted to not greater than a predetermined value and the fiber strength and the elongation at break are adjusted within certain ranges. This can make it possible to obtain an electrically conductive composite fiber that has a superior antistatic performance, which is not degraded very much over a practical wearing for a long term, though it contains only a relatively small amount of electrically conductive carbon black, and that is suitable for the field of clothing such as clean room wears and working wears.

  • Publication number: 20100045694
Abstract: In a local dimming technology for reducing power consumption of a display device using a backlight as in a liquid crystal display, the backlight is configured by a plurality of independently controllable light sources, an image is divided into areas of the same number as that of the controllable light sources and light emission intensity of the light source is calculated based on a feature value of each area. However, this technology has a problem that when a backlight luminance distribution within each area is not uniform, image quality is deteriorated or a power consumption reduction effect is lowered. In the present invention, the image is divided into areas of the number greater than that of the controllable light sources, and the light emission intensity of each light source is determined based on the feature values of a plurality of areas to reduce the above-described problem.

  • Publication number: 20070109875
Abstract: A hierarchical-search-based motion vector search, which stores both a non-reduced image and a reduced image in an external memory, has the problem of wasting the external memory capacity and the memory bandwidth. An information processing device according to the present invention exchanges data in a range wider than the memory bus width when a non-reduced image is stored in the external memory and selects whether or not the data is exchanged when the data is read. This allows two types of data, non-reduced and reduced, to be read from the data of the non-reduced image stored in the external memory.

  • Patent number: 7177996
Abstract: Security threats are reduced by providing a TLB in a bus interface unit of a media processor whose contents can be updated only from inside the media processor. The TLB checks whether an address specified by an external access request falls within access-permitted areas registered in it. If it does, an access request from outside is passed on to an inside of the media processor; otherwise, it is rejected.

  • Publication number: 20060290783
Abstract: A user can select an output desired video test signal of a desired video format for a video test signal generator by fewer operations. There are two modes; format priority mode and test signal priority mode. If the user starts the video test signal selection, lists of video test signals and/or video formats are displayed on a display screen. If the user selects a video test signal name on the screen, the process enters into the test signal priority mode and a list of video formats that have the selected test signal is displayed. The user can select a desired video format to determine the output video test signal of the desired video format. At this time, the user may change the video format as many times as needed without changing the selected video test signal.

  • Publication number: 20060236145
Abstract: A contents reproduction device realizes reduction of power consumption by controlling power supply control according to the input contents. More specifically, in the contents reproduction device, the PSI analysis unit analyzes additional information in the inputted contents so as to check whether video contents are contained or the signal detection unit checks whether the inputted contents contain a video signal. According to the check result, the video information detection unit detects whether the inputted contents contain video information and outputs the detection result to the power control unit. When the inputted contents contain video information, the power control unit supplies power to the display. When no video information is contained, the power control unit stops power supply to the display and turns off power supply to the display.

  • Patent number: 7073256
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a center electrode for a spark plug, a core member is press-fitted into a metal cup and, thereafter, a cold-forging process is performed to form a small-diameter portion at a closed end of the metal cup. The small-diameter portion is completely free from deformation which may occur during press-fitting operation. Thus, the small-diameter portion has excellent accuracy in shape. Furthermore, since the press-fitting is performed before the cold-forging of the small-diameter portion, it is possible to increase the press-fitting load or pressure to the extent that the core member and the metal cup are joined together with a sufficient degree of adhesion which will insure the a center electrode to have good thermal conductivity.
