  • Patent number: 4930458
Abstract: A thermosensitive hydraulic fan coupler for an automobile engine, which allows a suitable amount of air to be supplied to the engine in accordance with the travelling condition of the automobile through the rotation of a fan is provided. The fan coupling according to the present invention is provided with an idle oil chamber and a specific dam within the former adjacent the oil circulation passage between the oil chamber and the torque transmission chamber with the dam serving as an opening and closing mechanism so that in addition to the effects of preventing the generation of abnormal fan noises and promoting an warming-up operation of the engine, it can more effectively prevent the phenomenon of "attendant rotation" of the driven side of the coupling immediately after restarting the engine.

  • Patent number: 4919247
Abstract: A fluidized fan coupling device is provided to substantially eliminate accompanying rotation followed engine start up. The device includes a sealed housing with a partition plate dividing the interior of the housing into a torque transfer chamber and an oil reservoir. The housing is rotatably mounted to a shaft which extends into the torque transfer chamber. A driving disk is mounted to the shaft and is disposed in the torque transfer chamber. An oil outflow regulating hole extends through the partition plate and is provided with a valve that responds to changes in temperature. The partition plate also has an oil circulating aperture to permit flow of oil from the torque transfer chamber to the oil reservoir only when the engine is stopped. An idle oil groove in the outer periphery of the torque transfer chamber communicates with an oil circulation passage which extends from the idle oil groove to the oil reservoir. A dam is provided in the idle oil groove to urge the oil through the oil circulation passage.

  • Patent number: 4917221
Abstract: There is disclosed a slide type exhaust brake system including a housing accommodating a valve member formed with an exhaust pressure adjusting hole, and a piston rod to which an auxiliary valve member composed of a support frame member assuming a substantially C-shape in section and a liner member is locked. The liner member has its upwardly bent walls at both ends in the longitudinal direction and assumes a cross-like shape adaptive to be sustained by a pair of sustaining walls protruded from both sides of the valve member and fitted in inclined induction slots formed in the support frame member. The liner member closes the exhaust pressure adjusting hole when closing an exhaust passageway by the valve member which is simultaneously thrust in one direction. When opening the exhaust passageway, the liner member opens the adjusting hole, while the valve member is moved in the other direction.

  • Patent number: 4903643
Abstract: A temperature-sensing fan fluid coupling for use with an automobile engine. The coupling comprises a sealed enclosure, a partition plate having an outflow control hole, a thermostat mounted upon the front surface of the enclosure, a rodlike link member in contact with the thermostat at its one end, an interlocking member against which the link member bears, and a resilient tonguelike valve member. One end of the valve member is fixed, while the other end is in resilient contact with the front end of the interlocking member. The thermostat is connected to the valve member via the link member and the interlocking member. As the ambient temperature changes, the thermostat deforms to cause the valve member to more or less open the hole.

  • Patent number: 4900180
Abstract: A structure for connecting a branch pipe in a high-pressure fuel manifold employs a nut to fasten the branch pipe to a main pipe, the nut having threaded surfaces which are simultaneously brought into thread engagement with a collar member fitted on the branch pipe at the neck portion contiguous with the top joint portion thereof which is brought into contact with the main pipe and with a coupling member which is secured to the main pipe in such a manner as to surround the peripheral wall thereof. Therefore, it becomes unnecessary to conduct a welding operation which has heretofore been needed to connect the joint portion of the branch pipe to the main pipe. The connecting structure satisfactorily endures ultra-high fluid pressure even under vibrations. In addition, there is no fear of fuel leaking out through the joint nor risk of the branch pipe coming off.

  • Patent number: 4856739
Abstract: A fixing device using a clamp for fixing an elongated member to a basic structure. In case a small-sized elongated metallic or resin tube, wire harness, rod or cable is fixed to a basic structure, it has been usual to use a fixing device like a bandlike clamp to the elongated member. The fixing mechanism of such clamp has been such that the elongated member is passed through a semicircular coiled portion formed at one end of the clamp and the inner surface of the coiled portion of the clamp is brazed to the entire contact portion of the outer periphery of the elongated member. However, the clamp of the above type is disadvantageous because impact applied on the member or vibrations transmitted to the member from the basic structure are not absorbed causing damage on the member or clamp.
