The on-vehicle electric compressor further includes a cover fixed to the housing, a motor driving circuit disposed between the housing and the cover and driving the electric motor, and a protecting member protecting the cover against an external force caused when the vehicle has a collision. The protecting member has a contact portion that is contactable with a receiving portion when the external force is applied to the protecting member, the receiving portion having a greater rigidity than the cover to receive the external force through the contact portion.

The accommodation recess accommodates the valve mechanism. The valve mechanism includes a valve plate, which has a valve hole that connects the intake port and the supply passages, and a reed valve formation plate including a reed valve, located between the valve plate and the supply passages, to open and close the valve hole.

The gap is in the form of a spiral groove provided in at least one of an inner peripheral surface of the oil supply hole and an outer peripheral surface of the insertion member.

The first connecting terminal is elastically deformed and holds the motor side wire by a restoring force thereof. The second connecting terminal is elastically deformed and holds the drive circuit side wire by a restoring force thereof.

The motor housing, discharge housing and the intermediate pressure housing has a bolt fastening hole, and a bolt is inserted in the bolt fastening holes to integrally fix the motor housing, discharge housing and the intermediate pressure housing.
