Abstract: A process for the effect coating of polar plastics parts having a grained surface, characterised in thata) a first coating layer, which is free from effect pigments and modified polyolefines and which comprises a coating medium based on physically drying binder vehicle systems which contain one or more polyurethane resins and/or oligomeric urethanes and which do not chemically crosslink at the temperatures employed in process step f), is applied at a dry coat thickness of 5 to 40 .mu.m,b) is dried at 20.degree. to 80.degree. C. down to a residual content of 3 to 20% by weight of the volatile fractions which are contained in the applied coating film at the temperature employed,c) is overcoated wet-into-wet with an effect base lacquer,d) is dried at 20.degree. to 80.degree. C.

Abstract: A simplified process for producing a corrosion-protecting, well adhering lacquer coating, and the workpieces obtained thereby, is described. The process comprisessubjecting a metal substrate to a pre-treatment by spray or dip phosphate treatment and without subsequent passivation treatment, optionally after a drying,carrying out an electrophoretic dip lacquer coating of the metal substrate treated in this way wherein an electro dip lacquer is used which contains bismuth in the form of an organic bismuth complex and/or a bismuth salt of an organic carboxylic acid in a content of 0.1 to 5 wt. % calculated as bismuth and related to the binder solids in the electro dip lacquer.

Abstract: A gripping device for lifting and depositing slabs which are disposed on one edge thereof in an upright position is mounted in a mobile crane which is displaceable across a plurality of such slabs and comprises a row of support rods which are vertically displaceable in unison and each of which is provided at its lower end with a support member which is selectively rotatable into a position in which, when the rods are lowered into a position adjacent one side of a slab, the support member engages under the lower edge of the slab, and into another position in which it is disengaged from the said edge; furthermore a gravity operated holder member is provided which comes into engagement with the upper edge of the slab while the support rods are being lowered, and secures the slab against tilting during lifting and conveyance thereof.
