  • Patent number: 7193984
Abstract: A method is described for determining a time offset of a CDMA signal incurred during transfer. For each of a plurality of time offset estimates, the received chip sequence is multiplied with a conjugate complex scrambling code that is shifted by a number of chips according to one of the time offset estimates; the chip sequence is despreaded based on a spreading code of at least one selected data channel to produce a symbol sequence, and an estimated amplification factor is determined by summation of an amount of the symbol sequence. The maximum of the amplification factors for the time offset estimates when a selected data channel is active, or the minimum of the amplification factors for the time offset estimates when the selected data channel is not active is then determined.

  • Patent number: 7158581
Abstract: A method for determining the parameters and characteristics of an n-port network such as an amplifier is described. The parameters are determined by applying an input signal train or sequence with different amplitudes and measuring an output signal train, taking into account a temporal displacement that the output signal train has in relation to the input signal train. The temporal displacement is determined by a cross-correlation of the output signal train with the input signal train.

  • Patent number: 7154969
Abstract: A method for shared estimation of parameters (?, ?, |C1|, C0, ?, ??) is described, which together with an error vector e(k), describe the connection between a digitally modulated reference signal inputted to a transmission channel and a received receiver signal z(k) which is at an end of the transmission channel. The method includes the following steps: forming the error vector e(k) in dependence of the parameters (?, ?, |C1|, C0, ?, ??), a reference signal s(k), and the receiver signal z(k); linearizing the error vector e(k); substituting a real parameter of the linearized error vector through components of a estimation vector, wherein a substituted error vector is produced; inserting the substituted error vector into the cost function; and determining the estimation vector through gradient development of the cost function and subsequently setting the gradient to zero.

  • Patent number: 6947508
Abstract: An apparatus and method for estimating a frequency and/or a phase of a digital input signal by determining phase values of the input signal. The phase values are then added over a predetermined summation length N/B. The sampling rate of the added-up phase values are reduced by a factor N/B in comparison with the sampling rate of the phase values. The added-up phase values are delayed in a chain of at least B?1 delay elements. The differently-delayed added-up phase values are then added or subtracted to create a resulting. pulse response of the frequency such that the resulting pulse response of the frequency is constant positive in a first interval, is zero in a second interval and is constant negative in a third interval, so that a resulting pulse response of the phase is constant in at least a middle interval or is otherwise zero.

  • Patent number: 6931085
Abstract: An apparatus for correction of a resampler is provided, with which a sampled input signal, that is subjected to an input sampling rate and which has a chip frequency that differs from the input sampling rate, is converted into a sampled output signal for which the sampling rate corresponds with the chip frequency, by changing the input sampling rate by a resampling factor. The input signal is subjected to a non-linear operation so that a spectral line is produced at the chip frequency. A frequency shifter spectrally shifts the input signal by the chip frequency. The phase of the shifted spectral line at the chip frequency is determined as a function of sampling time points. On the basis of a regression of the phase of the shifted spectral line at the chip frequency, the resampling factor is corrected and/or the output signal is time-wise shifted by a time correction value.

  • Publication number: 20040159359
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing a junction where a branch line joins a header having a packer. The packer has an inflatable packer sleeve for the header and an inflatable side sleeve for the branch line that protrudes from said header in the inflated state. A tunnel passes from an end of the packer through an interior space to a collar, in which a feed line for introducing sealing material runs to the junction at the collar. In a deflated state, the side sleeve is inverted in the interior space of the packer sleeve. When the packer is placed, the packer sleeve to which compressed air is admitted comes to rest against the inside wall of the header and, subsequently, the side sleeve moves into the branch line by inversion.
