  • Patent number: 6002694
Abstract: A billing system for use in a chargeable program broadcasting is capable of reliably billing a subscriber for program reception while preventing unauthorized reception thereof. A receiving terminal includes a primary terminal 100 and a secondary terminal 150. The primary terminal 100 receives a compressed video signal and confirms by an error checker 113 thereof whether there is a transmission error and bills, by means of a billing device 114 thereof, the receiving subscriber on the basis of an error information and a program information, etc., separated from the video signal by a separation circuit 112. The compressed video data is time-axis multiplexed with a terminal identifying code and a key signal and transmitted to the secondary terminal 150. In the secondary terminal 150, a bill for the subscriber is confirmed by the terminal identifying code and the compressed data is decoded by a decoder circuit 166 thereof.

  • Patent number: 6002536
Abstract: A processing system and a recording/reproducing system for a digital signal including a digital video signal and a digital audio signal are disclosed. Upon transmission, the digital signal is transmitted after time-base compression and modulation. The transmitted signal is received and demodulated. In the case where the signal is to be transmitted to a plurality of recording/reproducing systems, address signals designating ones of the plural recording/reproducing systems and a control signal for controlling the start/stop of recording are transmitted. The recording by the recording/reproducing system is controlled so that it is made with the same format in either normal-speed or high-speed mode or in either normal or multiple recording mode.

  • Patent number: 5497237
Abstract: A method of converting a field of a regenerative signal in a VTR is provided wherein when image is reproduced at a nonstandard play speed, field data of a predetermined field number is formed using an inter-field signal with respect to a still part, and field data of a predetermined number is formed using only an inter-line signal with respect to a moving part; with respect to a carrier chrominance signal of a different field which will be interlaced, a signal processing is performed in such a way that when composite video signals are inputted in a normal direction, a phase is inverted, while when the composite video signals are inputted in a reverse direction, the phase is not inverted; and when abnormality occurs in an input state of the composite video signals, field data of a predetermined field number is formed using only the inter-line signal.

  • Patent number: 5459585
Abstract: An apparatus for storing high definition image signals capable of processing high definition image signals and low definition image signals using the same apparatus. A storage medium is provided with an interface of low definition image signals. High definition image signals are compressed, transformed into a format according to the specifications of the interface of low definition image signals and are then stored in the storage medium. The compressed image signals taken out from the storage medium are subjected to the format reverse transform for expansion to restore the original high definition image signals. The format-transformed compressed high definition image signals and the compressed high definition image signals taken out from the storage medium are transmitted over a transmission medium via low definition image interface and are, as required, stored in the storage medium or put to other processings, and are then expanded to restore the original high definition image signals.

  • Patent number: 5243422
Abstract: A field conversion device for forming data of a new field, comprising luminance and chrominance signals, respectively, by combining data of an arbitrary field of an interlaced television signal and field data of a television signal in an interlaced relationship therewith, and method thereof. Field signal data extracted from the arbitrary field is combined with data from the field in an interlaced relationship therewith. Furthermore, a second new field data is obtained using field data of a plurality of lines in the arbitrary field. Field data, comprising luminance and chrominance signals, respectively, are selectively chosen and output from the new first and second field data according to movement detected within an input signal, to comprise the new field data.
