  • Patent number: 7418481
Abstract: In an arrangement, functions and/or structures in a distributed control system (24) that works with a first protocol (28) are analysed and/or monitored. A first unit (23) is connected or can be connected to the control system, which first unit, due to its compatibility with the first protocol, receives and/or sends task instructions concerning the functions and/or structures. The first unit comprises or is connected to a second (22) and transforms at least those parts in the first protocol that relate to the task instructions concerning the functions and/or structures into a second protocol, by means of which the said tasks can be initiated and/or carried out in a tool arrangement (1) that is comprised in or can be connected to the second unit. This tool arrangement works with the second protocol, whereby primary readings and/or modifications in the first protocol on the basis of the analysis and/or monitoring can be carried out by means of secondary readings and/or modifications in the second protocol.

  • Patent number: 7386716
Abstract: A control or supervision system incorporates a digital serial communication and modules which are mutually communicable to this and operate with CAN-protocol. A control desk can be wirelessly connected to one or more modules operating with a signal protocol which takes no account of arbitration and/or confirmation functions appearing in the CAN-system. A particular receiving communication part executes the conversion of said signal protocol to the signal protocol of the CAN-system. A device for controlling a function in a first module in a CAN-system via a wireless connection to a second module in said system. A system of mutually separate units, whereof each unit operates with a CAN-signalling protocol, intercommunicable by means of radiocommunications operating with an identification system in which a key allocation between the units is based upon identities that are assigned by a module in the unit or a master system.

  • Patent number: 7362740
Abstract: An arrangement comprises a number of units that can communicate with each other via at least one wireless connection system for the transmission of messages. The connection system works with first and second reception areas. A time slot system is established in a first reception area, in which system the units have access to the transmission media in question in allocated and sequential time intervals, during which the units are activated for their respective transmissions and receptions using time information executed in the time slot system, which time information refers to one or more reference times utilized in the time slot system.

  • Publication number: 20070094528
Abstract: A run time method correlates time in different time bases used by interconnected units by timestamping a reference event with a time determined with respect to a first time base. The time is provided to a second interconnected unit that uses a second time base. A difference between the time measured by the first time base and in the second time base is determined. The difference is used to translate a time measured by the first clock to a time in a different time base at run time. An arrangement correlates different time bases of interconnected units, and includes a first unit that detects a reference event. A clock determines the reference time of the reference event in a first time base. A message unit sends the reference time to a second interconnected unit. The second interconnected unit uses a second time base, and a translation device correlates time measurements between the first time base and the second time base at run time.

  • Patent number: 7188162
Abstract: A method is used for generating a system protocol for control and/or monitoring equipment for one or more machines and/or processes. The equipment comprises a number of modules which can communicate with each other via a serial digital connection in accordance with said system protocol. A first memory location is fed with first data concerning a base protocol and is also supplied with second data concerning one or more additional protocols which indicate possible basic functions for the mutual relationship of the modules in the intercommunication. A second memory location receives third data concerning a base protocol and can also be supplied with fourth data concerning one or more additional protocols which indicate desired basic functions for the mutual relationship of the modules in the intercommunication. The system protocol is based on first, second, third and fourth data in said first and second memory locations.

  • Publication number: 20070013572
Abstract: A device collects messages, analog and digital signals from modules (e.g., ECUs, Electronic Controller Units) and sensors arranged on measurement objects in one or more distributed control systems. These systems may work with one or several protocols. The collected information can be of a considerable size, e.g., on the order of one several Gbytes, and can come from CAN or MOST systems arranged on machinery or a vehicle. A commentator system has a recording device for speech and/or image messages and these messages are converted to digital signals which may be distributed to a collection unit along with other signals obtained from the distributed system. Different tasks can be divided up between different experts or actors, and the analysis tasks themselves may be simplified.

  • Publication number: 20060143345
Abstract: In a CAN system, an arrangement is incorporated for making possible more efficient utilization of available band-width on the system's bus connection between, from and/or to modules incorporated in the system and/or reduction of accuracy requirements for clock functions utilized in the system. The system operates with communication on the bus connection that is in accordance with rules set up in the system and constitutes a combination of event-driven and time-controlled communication functions. The said functions are, together with a rule change in the time-controlled communication function, arranged to achieve the said making more efficient and/or reduction. The rule change is arranged to bring about deliberate collisions between messages appearing on the bus connection. In this way, the bandwidth utilization, the clock function and the system's general construction and function can be simplified according to the requirements imposed.

  • Patent number: 6985724
Abstract: In a distributed control system for one or more machines and/or one or more processes, data and control commands are transmitted via radio connections between nodes in the control system. The nodes operate with radio transmitters and radio receivers and comprise or are controlled by activation devices for activating their transmission and receiver functions. The nodes also operate with time-determination devices which comprise or control the abovementioned activation devices. The time-determination devices are arranged to determine the transmission or reception position of the nodes by means of the activation devices and allocated settings or controls. The abovementioned settings or controls can be determined by means of one or more schedules implemented in or for the control system, in which the nodes are given unique or co-ordinated transmission and reception times on the radio connections.

  • Publication number: 20050251701
Abstract: In a more efficient distributed control or monitoring arrangement there are devices in control, monitoring and/or vehicle systems that comprise locally deployed module units that carry out one or more functions, and one or more links connecting the units. The respective module unit is connected to a link via a connection arrangement or a connection point and requisite communication device for the CAN protocol. A CAN control unit is arranged to receive indication of falling edges on the bus in question, and to carry out measurement of the time between falling edges using clock pulses in its clock function. Information from two or more such measurements forms the basis for calculation of a bit frequency currently used in communication on the bus by active module units connected to the same.

  • Publication number: 20050086380
Abstract: An arrangement is connected to a distributed control system with modules connected as nodes to one or more connections in a communication system that operates with communication protocol. The arrangement comprises two or more interacting computer programs or tools for development, maintenance, etc, of the control system. A first computer program generates data relating to additional information or identification information. A second computer program is arranged to determine, using the identification information, whether the generated data can be processed in the second computer program. A data repository is arranged to store without sorting various data with the identification information, which stored data is arranged in a first data format. The respective computer program can retrieve data from or input data to the data repository. The respective computer program works with a database, and is arranged to change the format from the first data format to the second data format.

  • Publication number: 20040076135
Abstract: An arrangement and a device comprises a mobile data and communication network within a predetermined geographical area. The device operates with first and second functions that can consist of, for example, company and/or customers functions and communication and/or slave functions respectively. Two or more units in the first function are synchronized with each other as regards time and frequency in order to act, from the point of view of connection and disconnection functions, as a common first unit for second units that carry out the second function. Time consuming handshaking procedures are then avoided for the second units when these one's are moving and shifting between part areas of said predetermined area and the total system will operate rapidly in this respect.
