  • Publication number: 20170208611
Abstract: Various embodiments include multi-subscription multi-standby communication devices and methods for managing communication activity. A device processor of the multi-subscription multi-standby communication device may determine a timing of an upcoming tune-away from a first subscription to a second subscription, and may determine whether an upcoming communication activity on the first subscription is a critical communication activity. The device processor may determine whether the upcoming tune-away and the upcoming communication activity will collide in response to determining that the upcoming communication activity is a critical communication activity, and may schedule one or both of the upcoming critical communication activity and the tune-away to prevent the collision in response to determining that the upcoming tune-away and the upcoming communication activity will collide.

  • Patent number: 9672132
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for measuring performance of a multi-thread processor. The method and apparatus determine loading of a multi-thread processor through execution of an idle task in individual threads of the multi-thread processor during predetermined time periods. The idle task is configured to loop and run when no other task is running on the threads. Loop executions of the idle task on each thread are counted over each of the predetermined time periods. From these counts, loading of each of the threads of the multi-thread processor may then be determined. The loading may be used to develop a processor profile that may then be displayed in real-time.

  • Patent number: 9622080
Abstract: Techniques for managing cell update messages are described here. An information element (IE) that indicates the security status of a user equipment (UE) may be included in the cell update message when a cell update procedure is triggered during an ongoing security mode procedure. To ensure the size of the cell update message is equal to or smaller than the transport format size, other IEs may be omitted from the cell update message if the security mode procedure is in progress. Alternatively, if the security mode procedure is not in progress, there may not be a need to update the security status of the UE and, thus, the IE that indicates the security status may be omitted from the cell update message to reduce the size of the cell update message.

  • Patent number: 9538455
Abstract: Described herein are various aspects related to determining whether to read system information of a network entity. A user equipment (UE) can receive system information transmitted by a network entity. The UE can analyze one or more parameters of the system information to determine whether system information for the network entity has changed when a value tag broadcasted in the system information is equivalent to a stored value tag for the network entity; thus the UE can utilize more than just the value tag, such as system information size, system information scheduling, a value tag in master information, and/or the like, at least in instance where the value tag may be the same in different transmissions of the system information. The UE can process the system information for the network entity based at least in part on determining that the system information for the network entity has changed.

  • Publication number: 20160316404
Abstract: Aspects of resolving conflicting configuration parameters during wireless communication include triggering reselection to a new cell from a current cell and determining that a user equipment (UE) is configured in a forward access channel (FACH) state and is waiting for a Layer 2 Acknowledgement (L2 ACK) message from a network entity when reselection to the new cell is triggered. Further, the aspects include performing a collision resolution procedure in response to the determination that the UE is configured in the FACH state and is waiting for the L2 ACK message. In some aspects, the collision resolution procedure establishes which one of a plurality of information elements (IEs) to choose for a reconfiguration procedure.

  • Publication number: 20160302100
Abstract: The disclosure provides for a user equipment (UE) handling radio link control (RLC) reset in wireless communications. Various techniques are described wherein RLC reset procedures are associated with various triggering conditions and predetermined time periods at RLC. Delays for initiation and execution of the RLC reset procedures are also described. In an aspect, the UE determines that at least one data unit to be received over a first logical channel is yet to be received by the UE and that there is data traffic over a second logical channel with higher priority than the first logical channel. In another aspect, the UE delays initiation of an RLC reset on a condition that the UE determines that at least one data unit is yet to be received over the first logical channel and that there is data traffic over the second logical channel.

  • Patent number: 9456426
Abstract: A gain factor is used for calculating one transmit power relative to another transmit power. For example, in UMTS high speed uplink packet access, a gain factor called ?ed is employed for transmission associated a given enhanced transport format combination indicator (E-TFCI). Conventionally, a gain factor to be used for a given E-TFCI can be determined via interpolation between two of the reference E-TFCIs to reduce signaling overhead. However, certain network configurations may result in one or more of the reference E-TFCIs that could be otherwise be used according to conventional techniques being outside of a valid range. In the event such a sub-optimal configuration occurs, interpolation and/or extrapolation schemes based on at least one reference E-TFCIs that is within and/or or is not within the valid range are used to calculate a gain factor for a given E-TFCI.

  • Publication number: 20160248908
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for detecting voice distortion are disclosed. In some aspects, a communication device may decode a silence insertion descriptor (SID) frame to identify a pattern associated with the SID frame and correlate the pattern with a reference pattern for the SID frame. Based on the correlating, the communication device, in some examples, may determine whether the SID frame is de-synchronized. In one or more examples, determining whether the SID frame is de-synchronized may comprise determining that a consecutive N number of SID frames fail to match the reference pattern. Additionally or alternatively, the communication device may adjust at least one parameter to re-synchronize a voice signal associated with the SID frame upon determining that the SID frame is de-synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20160242072
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for handling over-sized call setup messages are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may identify the size of a connection setup message (e.g., RRC connection setup complete message) associated with one or more UE capability information. Based on the identified size of the connection setup message, the UE may determine an estimated time required to transmit the connection setup message to a network entity (e.g., base station) over at least one uplink channel and determine whether the estimated time is above or below a threshold. If the UE determines that the estimated time to transmit the connection setup message is greater than the threshold, the UE may remove at least a portion of the connection setup message and transmit a modified connection setup message.
