  • Publication number: 20180343647
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting using beam are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit a first physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble to a base station using a first beam at a first power level. The WTRU may receive an indication that the first PRACH preamble was received by the base station. If the indication was received, the WTRU may transmit data. If the indication was not received, the WTRU may select the first beam or a second beam to use for a second PRACH preamble. Further, the first and second beams may be different beams. If the first beam is selected, the WTRU may increase a transmission power level of the second PRACH preamble by a first power ramp step. If the second beam is selected, the WTRU may not increase the transmission power level of the second PRACH preamble by the first power ramp step.

  • Publication number: 20180103418
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments for Machine Type Communication (MTC). The techniques disclosed may reduce signaling by transmitting MTC data over control planes and avoiding a full cycle of connection procedures typically required for transmission. MTC data may be directly appended to a control plane message. In addition, in order to reduce the signaling load, a WTRU may autonomously release the connection without being told by the network. Techniques may be used to indicate a network provider's machine type communication (MTC) capability. The MTC services or capabilities that may be provided by a respective network operator may be communicated to a WTRU.

  • Patent number: 9867147
Abstract: Techniques for transmit power control for multiple antenna transmissions in an uplink are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) generates at least one input stream for transmission and applies a gain factor to each channel. The gain factor is determined based on a reference channel power estimate. The WTRU generates at least two data streams from the input stream for transmission via a plurality of antennas and applies weights to the data streams. The gain factor and/or the weights are controlled such that a transmit power on each antenna is within a maximum allowed value. The WTRU may perform power scaling on a condition that a transmit power on any antenna exceeds the maximum allowed value. The WTRU may scale down an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH) first before other channels. For multiple E-DCH streams, the WTRU may calculate an E-DPDCH power offset based on an additional power offset factor due to multiple stream transmission.

  • Patent number: 9854589
Abstract: Interference mitigation (e.g., interference suppression and/or interference cancellation) in a wireless communications system may include interference alignment techniques. Interference alignment may be performed to concurrently mitigate the effects of multiple types of interference (e.g., inter-cell interference and intra-cell interference). Interference management using interference alignment may enhance spectral efficiency in an interference-limited communications system, such as a wireless communications system (e.g., a cellular system). Interference alignment techniques may be applied to a homogeneous wireless communications system (e.g., including one or macro base stations). Interference alignment techniques may be applied to a heterogeneous wireless communications system (e.g., including one or macro base stations and one or more overlaid low-power nodes, such as small cells, remote radio heads (RRHs), or the like).

  • Patent number: 9831992
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing and/or improving interference in cells may be provided. For example, in embodiments, a partial-band Almost Blank Subframe (PB-ABS) subframe and/or a spatial Almost Blank Subframe (SABS) may be provided and/or used for coordinating communication with in networks with smaller and larger cells (e.g. pico or macro cells). For example, a PB-ABS may provide a dimension (e.g. frequency) that may be used to define a region and/or particular resources (e.g. resource blocks) reserved for pico cell operations or transmissions and a region or other resources (e.g. not those reserved for pico cell operations) available for macro cell operations or transmissions. Additionally, based on beam parameters (e.g. associated with cell partitioning), SABS may offer an additional dimension (e.g. spatial) that may be used to prevent transmission in a particular spatial direction.

  • Patent number: 9826490
Abstract: A method for dynamically controlling the transmit power of transmission streams transmitted via multiple antennas is disclosed. A transmit power level for multiple streams is determined based on a first reference channel. The difference of signal to interface ratios (SIRs) between two reference channels may represent a power offset. The power offset may be used to determine gain factors used to transmit data channels on the secondary stream with reference to the gain factor of the first reference channel. The power offset may be used to determine other parameters, such a serving grant or transport block sizes of channels carried on the secondary stream. The power offset may allow transmission parameters of channels on the secondary stream to be determined based on the transmit power level of the primary stream and a gain factor for a reference channel transmitted via the primary stream.

  • Patent number: 9801161
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing control information for multi-carrier uplink transmission are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may set a happy bit for enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) transmissions on each uplink carrier considering aggregated transmission capability over all uplink carriers. The happy bit is set to “unhappy” if the WTRU is transmitting as much scheduled data as allowed by a current serving grant, the WTRU has enough power available to transmit at a higher rate, and total E-DCH buffer status (TEBS) requires more than a pre-configured period to be transmitted with a current effective data rate aggregated over all uplink carriers. The WTRU may send scheduling information including power headroom measured on the anchor uplink carrier and/or power headroom measured on the supplementary uplink carrier. For power headroom measurements, the WTRU may initiate a short-lived dedicated physical control channel loop on the supplementary carrier.

  • Patent number: 9736816
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to determine rank, offset, or inter-stream interference control information, for example, which may be associated with uplink MIMO operations. A method to control a WTRU may include receiving a special E-RNTI that is associated with a channel. The channel may be associated with a rank indication. The channel may be an E-AGCH-like channel. The channel may have a similar encoding structure as an E-AGCH. The channel may be an E-ROCH. The channel may be received, and it may be determined that the channel is associated with the special E-RNTI. At least one of a rank or an offset may be determined, and the WTRU may be configured with the determined rank or offset. An inter-stream interference (ISI) offset may be received, for example, via RRC signaling, and may be applied to an uplink transmission of a primary stream.

  • Patent number: 9668241
Abstract: Feedback information for multiple serving cells are transmitted on high speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH). A slot format for transmitting feedback information is determined based on the number of configured secondary serving cells and whether multiple input multiple-output (MIMO) is configured in the serving cells. Spreading factor is reduced to 128 when two secondary serving cells are configured and MIMO is configured in at least one of the two configured secondary serving cells, or when three secondary serving cells are configured. The serving cells are grouped into feedback groups, each feedback group having one or more serving cells. Channel coding may be applied to feedback information for the feedback groups. The resulting encoded feedback information for the feedback groups is concatenated to form composite feedback information.

  • Publication number: 20170119290
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods using optical or electrical spectroscopy for accurate detection and monitoring of biological tissue properties in a noninvasive manner. To perform in vivo diagnose with more accurate and repeatable measurements, an air-tight micro suction cup is placed against biological tissue under test (such as skin of a patient), around which an electrical or optical sensing system comprising excitation and detection sensors is integrated. Applying a high power suction pump over the micro cup, a negative pressure is generated to reshape the skin covered by the cup to a contour suitable for better measurement results. Most important, as the suction power increases, certain amount of blood flow or body fluid is brought to skin layer, providing great potential of improving those diagnoses that require direct analysis over these biological components.
