Patent number: 9497566Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments for Machine Type Communication (MTC). The techniques disclosed may reduce signaling by transmitting MTC data over control planes and avoiding a full cycle of connection procedures typically required for transmission. MTC data may be directly appended to a control plane message, in addition, in order to reduce the signaling load, a WTRU may autonomously release the connection without being told, by the network. Techniques may be used to indicate a network provider's machine type communication (MTC) capability. The MTC services or capabilities that may be provided by a respective network operator may be communicated to a WTRU.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Behrouz Aghili, Joseph M. Publication number: 20160295530Abstract: A method for dynamically controlling the transmit power of transmission streams transmitted via multiple antennas is disclosed. A transmit power level for multiple streams is determined based on a first reference channel. The difference of signal to interface ratios (SIRs) between two reference channels may represent a power offset. The power offset may be used to determine gain factors used to transmit data channels on the secondary stream with reference to the gain factor of the first reference channel. The power offset may be used to determine other parameters, such a serving grant or transport block sizes of channels carried on the secondary stream. The power offset may allow transmission parameters of channels on the secondary stream to be determined based on the transmit power level of the primary stream and a gain factor for a reference channel transmitted via the primary stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Lujing Cai, Benoit Pelletier, Hong O. Publication number: 20160294459Abstract: Systems and methods for managing control signaling overhead for a multi-carrier HSDPA (MC-HSDPA) may be disclosed. In particular, a plurality of downlink carriers may be received and bundled or paired. Configuration information indicative of the bundling may then be generated and transmitted. Additionally, one or more components such as antennas, user equipment (UE), and the like may receive an indication of a configuration or state via a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) order where the indication includes order bits and order types and the configuration may be applied to activate and/or deactivate the components or operations such as uplink closed-loop transmit diversity (CLTD), uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). The order bits and/or order types may also be extended to support the activation/deactivation of additional carriers of MC-HSDPA.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Fengjun Xi, Lujing Cai, Joseph S. Publication number: 20160219568Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting pilots on multiple antennas are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit a primary dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) and at least one secondary DPCCH via multiple antennas using different channelization codes. When a required transmit power exceeds a maximum allowed transmit power of the WTRU, power scaling may be applied equally to the primary DPCCH and the secondary DPCCH, such that a power ratio between the primary DPCCH and the secondary DPCCH remains the same before scaling as after scaling. The secondary DPCCH may include a same number of pilot bits as the primary DPCCH both in a normal mode and in a compressed mode, respectively. The same total pilot energy ratio may be maintained between the primary DPCCH and the secondary DPCCH both in a normal mode and in a compressed mode, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2016Publication date: July 28, 2016Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Benoit Pelletier, Lujing Cai, Hong O. Publication number: 20160174150Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in communication with a wireless network that may include a base station (or base node) and a cell that may be in a dormant mode is contemplated. Publication number: 20160127089Abstract: Systems and methods for managing and/or improving interference in cells may be provided. For example, in embodiments, a partial-band Almost Blank Subframe (PB-ABS) subframe and/or a spatial Almost Blank Subframe (SABS) may be provided and/or used for coordinating communication with in networks with smaller and larger cells (e.g. pico or macro cells). Publication number: 20150245304Abstract: Techniques for transmit power control for multiple antenna transmissions in an uplink are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) generates at least one input stream for transmission and applies a gain factor to each channel. The gain factor is determined based on a reference channel power estimate. The WTRU generates at least two data streams from the input stream for transmission via a plurality of antennas and applies weights to the data streams. The gain factor and/or the weights are controlled such that a transmit power on each antenna is within a maximum allowed value. The WTRU may perform power scaling on a condition that a transmit power on any antenna exceeds the maximum allowed value. The WTRU may scale down an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH) first before other channels. For multiple E-DCH streams, the WTRU may calculate an E-DPDCH power offset based on an additional power offset factor due to multiple stream transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2015Publication date: August 27, 2015Applicant: INTERDIGITAL PATENT HOLDINGS, INC.Inventors: Benoit Pelletier, Lujing Cai, Hong Zhang
