  • Publication number: 20120287869
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing control signaling overhead for a multi-carrier HSDPA (MC-HSDPA) may be disclosed. In particular, a plurality of downlink carriers may be received and bundled or paired. Configuration information indicative of the bundling may then be generated and transmitted. Additionally, one or more components such as antennas, user equipment (UE), and the like may receive an indication of a configuration or state via a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) order where the indication includes order bits and order types and the configuration may be applied to activate and/or deactivate the components or operations such as uplink closed-loop transmit diversity (CLTD), uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). The order bits and/or order types may also be extended to support the activation/deactivation of additional carriers of MC-HSDPA.

  • Publication number: 20120281544
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for receiving data from multiple cells. A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) may receive data from cells in a multi-point set that includes a primary serving cell and one or more assisting serving cells. The WTRU measures the quality of cells in the multipoint set as well as neighboring cells. Based on the cell quality, the WTRU triggers a reporting event, such cell adding event, cell removal event, or cell replacement event, and sends a measurement report to the network. The WTRU receives an indication of a change to the multi-point set from the network, and modifies the multi-point set accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20120275403
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed herein to determine a gain factor. A user equipment (UE) may determine that an S-E-DPCCH and an E-DPCCH are to be transmitted on a primary stream. The UE may calculate an E-DPCCH gain factor using a gain factor calculation and apply the -DPCCH gain factor. The UE may calculate an E-DPCCH gain factor reduction. For example, the E-DPCCH gain factor reduction may compensate for changes from single stream transmission to multiple stream transmission. The UE may apply the E-DPCCH gain factor reduction to the E-DPCCH gain factor. The UE may apply the E-DPCCH gain factor reduction to an S-E-DPCCH gain factor.

  • Publication number: 20120082192
Abstract: Method and apparatus for transmitting pilot on multiple antennas are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit a primary dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) and at least one secondary DPCCH via multiple antennas using different channelization codes. The first eight pilot symbols of the secondary DPCCH may be same as pilot symbols of length eight of the primary DPCCH. The secondary DPCCH may include a same number of pilot bits as the primary DPCCH in a normal mode and in a compressed mode, respectively. The transmit power of the secondary DPCCH may be adjusted based on a ratio of a number of pilot symbols in the primary DPCCH and the secondary DPCCH. When a required transmit power exceeds a maximum allowed transmit power of the WTRU, power scaling may be applied equally to the primary DPCCJ and the secondary DPCCH.

  • Publication number: 20120008510
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to provide antenna transmit diversity. A wireless transmit/receiver unit (WTRU) may comprise multiple antennas. A channel condition for each of the antennas may be determined. A probing phase may be used in order to determine the channel conditions. During a period of the probing phase, a probing signal from each antenna may be transmitted during a respective time interval. The WTRU transmit power may or may not be held constant. A Node B may receive each probing signal and determine channel quality information. The Node B may adjust the determined channel quality information if there is a power offset between the signals. The Node B may send the channel quality information to the WTRU. The WTRU may switch an antenna to use for uplink transmission based on the received channel quality information.

  • Publication number: 20110263281
Abstract: A method for dynamically controlling the transmit power of transmission streams transmitted via multiple antennas is disclosed. A transmit power level for multiple streams is determined based on a first reference channel. The difference of signal to interface ratios (SIRs) between two reference channels may represent a power offset. The power offset may be used to determine gain factors used to transmit data channels on the secondary stream with reference to the gain factor of the first reference channel. The power offset may be used to determine other parameters, such a serving grant or transport block sizes of channels carried on the secondary stream. The power offset may allow transmission parameters of channels on the secondary stream to be determined based on the transmit power level of the primary stream and a gain factor for a reference channel transmitted via the primary stream.

  • Publication number: 20110249656
Abstract: Feedback information for multiple serving cells are transmitted on high speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH). A slot format for transmitting feedback information is determined based on the number of configured secondary serving cells and whether multiple input multiple-output (MIMO) is configured in the serving cells. Spreading factor is reduced to 128 when two secondary serving cells are configured and MIMO is configured in at least one of the two configured secondary serving cells, or when three secondary serving cells are configured. The serving cells are grouped into feedback groups, each feedback group having one or more serving cells. Channel coding may be applied to feedback information for the feedback groups. The resulting encoded feedback information for the feedback groups is concatenated to form composite feedback information.

  • Publication number: 20110105174
Abstract: Techniques for transmit power control for multiple antenna transmissions in an uplink are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) generates at least one input stream for transmission and applies a gain factor to each channel. The gain factor is determined based on a reference channel power estimate. The WTRU generates at least two data streams from the input stream for transmission via a plurality of antennas and applies weights to the data streams. The gain factor and/or the weights are controlled such that a transmit power on each antenna is within a maximum allowed value. The WTRU may perform power scaling on a condition that a transmit power on any antenna exceeds the maximum allowed value. The WTRU may scale down an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH) first before other channels. For multiple E-DCH streams, the WTRU may calculate an E-DPDCH power offset based on an additional power offset factor due to multiple stream transmission.

  • Patent number: 7813434
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing bit loading in a dual latency data transmission system. In a computer network, such as an XDSL-based network, carrier channels are allocated between two latency paths. Error sensitive information is transmitted over a latency path employing one or more forward error correction techniques. Latency sensitive information that is relatively more tolerant of errors is transmitted over the other latency path. Rather than employing the lowest coding gain for carrier channels having the two different latency paths, the highest coding gain for each path is used by applying different target S-N-R margins for carrier channels having different latency paths.

  • Publication number: 20100111023
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing control information for multi-carrier uplink transmission are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may set a happy bit for enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) transmissions on each uplink carrier considering aggregated transmission capability over all uplink carriers. The happy bit is set to “unhappy” if the WTRU is transmitting as much scheduled data as allowed by a current serving grant, the WTRU has enough power available to transmit at a higher rate, and total E-DCH buffer status (TEBS) requires more than a pre-configured period to be transmitted with a current effective data rate aggregated over all uplink carriers. The WTRU may send scheduling information including power headroom measured on the anchor uplink carrier and/or power headroom measured on the supplementary uplink carrier. For power headroom measurements, the WTRU may initiate a short-lived dedicated physical control channel loop on the supplementary carrier.
