  • Publication number: 20070197319
Abstract: A conical disk array for a belt-driven transmission having sets of conical friction disks on the input and output sides that are operatively coupled to each other by an endless torque-transmitting means to transmit torque. At least one friction disk of the conical friction disk sets has a friction surface structure with ground grooves that are not coaxial with each other. A grinding device for grinding the friction surface has its axis of rotation skewed relative to the axis of rotation of the friction disk being ground. A method is for producing a friction surface structure on a friction disk of a conical disk array with a grinding device with which the rotating friction disk serves to form a non-coaxially-oriented friction surface pattern as the friction surface.

  • Publication number: 20070197332
Abstract: A plate-link chain composed of a plurality of plates that form plate sets, which are connected to an adjacent plate set with a hinge joint. At least some of the plates have a stopping means that limits bending of the plate-link chain in a direction opposite to the bend direction the chain undergoes when it passes over and around a pulley or a gear with which the chain comes into contacting engagement when the pulley or gear rotates.

  • Publication number: 20070179003
Abstract: A chain including identically-configured plate elements having at least one through opening that overlaps with through openings of preceding and following plate elements. The plate elements are interconnected with identically-configured rocker members that extend into the plate openings. The rocker members are in the form of pins having an asymmetric cross-sectional shape that includes rolling surfaces and contact point surfaces that engage with the plate opening surfaces. Outer end faces of the rocker members are crowned to provide contact points that are asymmetrically positioned relative to a pin longitudinal central axis. By reversing the rocker member orientation within the plate element through openings, randomization of chain contacts with chain-driven components is achieved, with improved acoustics. And by utilizing identical plate elements and identical rocker members parts manufacture is simplified, as are part inventory requirements.

  • Publication number: 20070142141
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring the operational reliability of a transmission having a continuously variable transmission ratio that transmits torque by frictional engagement of transmission components. A damage model is provided that contains a damage value that is a function of transmission operating parameters that are applicable to an assessment of damage to the frictional contact regions that transmit torque through frictional engagement. The values of the operating parameters during transmission operation are ascertained and the damage level reached from the ascertained operating parameters is determined. A value derived from the momentary damage value is displayed. The method is carried out with monitoring apparatus that includes sensors for sensing transmission operating parameters, and an evaluation unit for determining damage values based upon sensor outputs.

  • Patent number: 7188541
Abstract: A transmission system including a shift mechanism for operating and controlling the transmission system. To automatically detect geometric characteristic values of the transmission system or of the shifting device a selector motor and a shift motor actuate a select or finger that is displaceably mounted in a selection-shift-passageway layout. Starting from an initial position whose coordinates within the selection-shift-passageway layout are unknown, the selector finger is displaced in the directions of shifting and in the directions of selection in order to detect paths of movement in the direction of selection or shifting. The selector finger is repeatedly displaced to establish the maximum paths of movement until the predetermined transmission geometric characteristic values are completely detected. Also disclosed are a control device for controlling a transmission system that includes a shift mechanism, and a method for controlling such a transmission system.

  • Publication number: 20060183594
Abstract: A friction ring variable speed drive with a continuously variable transmission ratio. A concavely curved first transmission element is rotatable around a first axis of rotation and a convexly curved second transmission element is rotatable around a second axis of rotation. The first and second transmission elements receive between them a segment of the circumference of a transmission ring. An adjusting device presses the transmission surfaces against the circumferential surfaces of the transmission ring for frictional transmission of torque between the transmission elements. The position of the transmission ring relative to the axes of rotation is variable by means of the adjusting device. A contact pressure device is provided for imposing a contact pressure between the transmission surfaces and the transmission ring, and the contact pressure increases as the transmitted torque increases.
