  • Patent number: 6964872
Abstract: When insoluble magnetic carrier particles are used in immunoassay, a method is provided which is suitable for saving labor and for treating a large number of samples within a short time while avoiding problems including difficulties in the stability of sensitized insoluble magnetic particles and in their preparation. In assaying an antigenic substance in test samples, no use is made of insoluble magnetic particles carrying an antibody specific to the said antigenic substance but insoluble magnetic carrier particles are provided in a state free from adsorbing said antibody, etc. Then the antigenic substance per se to be assayed is adsorbed on the insoluble magnetic carrier particles followed by reaction with a labeled antibody specific to the said adsorbed antigenic substance. Thus, the antigenic substance in the test sample can be efficiently assayed in a mode suitable for automation.

  • Patent number: 6258259
Abstract: The invention provides an iron sulfide characterized in that it comprises FeS2, Fe1−XS, Fe3O4 and FeSO4, and that the secondary particles thereof, have a 50% volume-cumulative particle diameter of from 20 to 300 &mgr;m. The invention also provides a process for producing an iron sulfide comprising the steps of introducing (a) ferrous sulfate monohydrate having a d50 of from 20 to 300 &mgr;m and (b) not less than stoichiometric amount of at least one sulfur compound selected from elemental sulfur and hydrogen sulfide into the fluidized bed of a furnace and then fluidizing, burning, and reacting the ingredients at a temperature of from 350 to less than 630° C., a superficial velocity of 0.1 m/sec or higher, and a pressure of 1 atm or higher using air as a fluidizing gas. The present invention is useful, for example, in a process of coal liquefaction or heavy-oil hydrocracking.

  • Patent number: 5802434
Abstract: An image fixing apparatus which includes a rotatable member for fixing an image, a plurality of separation members for contacting the rotatable member, and a mechanism for shifting the contactable member in a direction of a generating line of the rotatable member so as to engage and disengage the separation members from the rotatable member. The shifting of the separation members is timed so that they are separated from the rotatable member a line period shorter than that required for fused toner on the separation member to solidify.

  • Patent number: 5563695
Abstract: An image formation apparatus is disclosed, capable of forming an image on both surfaces of a recording medium. The image formation apparatus is provided with the latent image forming unit for forming an unfixed image on the photosensitive drum, the transfer drum for transferring the unfixed image onto the recording medium, and an oil application device for applying a release agent onto the fixing roller. The release agent applied upon fixing the first surface is different in quantity from that applied upon fixing the second surface and the releasing agent applied to the fixing rotor during single side fixing is different in quantity than when both surfaces are to be fixed. The releasing agent quantity also differs depending on whether the apparatus is in cassette feed mode or manual feed mode and is not applied when the recording medium is in contact with the fixing roller.
