  • Publication number: 20060169742
Abstract: A conductive portion of a wire, composed of a plurality of core wires, is inserted and fitted into a groove in a pressing die, thereby restricting the conductive portion to a bonding width of a terminal, and in this condition with the use of a press forming machine, the conductive portion is pressed in a thickness direction thereof to be formed into a flat shape. Thereafter, the conductive portion is inserted and fitted into the terminal, and then the conductive portion, while pressed by a pressing vibration horn, is bonded to the terminal by ultrasonic vibrations applied from the pressing vibration horn.

  • Patent number: 7077712
Abstract: The jointing sleeve component includes a sleeve made of electrically conductive metal. A diameter of the sleeve is to be reduced by swaging on a condition that core wire ends of a plurality of coated electric wires are received in the sleeve. Each core wire end is obtained by removing an insulating coating from the coated electric wire. The jointing sleeve component electrically connects the core wire ends to each other. The sleeve is formed in a pipe-shape from a developed material, which is stamped out from a plate made of the electrically conductive metal to have a specific shape.

  • Patent number: 7074077
Abstract: A connection cap that includes a rear end wall positioned at a rear end of the connection cap for confining a sealing uncured resin, an opening positioned at a forward end of the connection cap for inserting a jointing portion of core wires of electrical cables, and a cylindrical wall extending from the opening to the rear end wall. The cylindrical wall has an inner surface formed with a plurality of ribs for positioning the jointing portion in the connection cap. The ribs are distributed in a circumferential direction to uniformly support the electrical cable. The uncured resin intrudes clearances each defined between adjacent two of the ribs. The inner surfaces of ribs define an inscribed circle having a diameter substantially the same as an outer diameter of a conductive sleeve for crimping the core wires. Advantageously, the ribs each have a forward end portion formed with a tapered surface gradually rising toward the rear end of connection cap.

  • Patent number: 7047636
Abstract: A method in which a claw portion of a connecting member penetrates a first piercing portion of a flat circuit member in a thickness direction thereof. In the case of connection to the flat circuit member having a thick conductor portion, the claw portion is bent such that a distal end portion of the claw portion pierces the flat circuit member so as to obtain electric contact with the conductor portion of the flat circuit member. In the case of connection to the flat circuit member having a thin conductor portion, the claw portion is bent such that a portion of the flat circuit member is clamped between an outer surface of the claw portion and inner edge portion of a side wall portion of the connecting member, so as to obtain electric contact with the conductor portion of the circuit member.

  • Patent number: 7040914
Abstract: An electric connecting terminal (21) is connected to a flat circuit body (1) by causing tips of one pair of piercing portions (25, 26) erected on both side edges of a plane portion (23) to penetrate through a coating (5) and a conductor (4a) in the flat circuit body (1) and then folding the tips in such a direction as to approach each other. Taper surfaces (25b, 26b) for gradually reducing a plate thickness toward the tip are provided on internal surface sides of the piercing portions (25, 26).

  • Publication number: 20060068653
Abstract: The terminal includes a front portion, a middle portion, and a rear portion. The rear portion is opened and has a pair of upright segments. The front portion is a shape of hollow cylinder and has bent tips. The middle portion is partly opened and an inner edge thereof has a collapsed or chamfered face. A step H is disposed between the rear portion and the front portion so that the middle portion is downwardly tapered to the rear portion. A through-hole is disposed at inner wall of the middle portion close to the rear portion for a part of the core wires, preferably edges of the covers also, to be visible through the through-hole.

  • Publication number: 20060057903
Abstract: After bringing a conductor of an electric wire into press contact to connect with a wire caulking portion of a connection terminal, the conductor and the wire caulking portion are welded to connect by irradiating laser beam to a bottom wall of the wire caulking portion. Laser irradiation is carried out intermittently by three times and the laser irradiation at the second time and thereafter which is carried out later is carried out such that during a time period in which a laser welded portion immediately previously is brought into a predetermined state of elevating temperature, portions or welded regions overlap welded regions in laser irradiation irradiated previously.

  • Patent number: 6976889
Abstract: In a method of connecting a terminal with a wire in which a core (2) of a wire is inserted into a tubular wire connecting portion (1) of a terminal, and the wire connecting portion is crimped in a radial direction of the wire, the wire connecting portion is compressed in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference. While rotating dies (7?) by using a rotary swaging machine, the wire connecting portion is compressed by the dies in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference. The wire connecting portion is compressed in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference, and the outer periphery of a compressed part of the wire connecting portion has a true circular section shape.

  • Patent number: 6942529
Abstract: A press-clamping terminal of the invention is press-fastened at its conductor-clamping portion on an outer periphery of a conductor part of a wire so as to be electrically connected to the conductor part. A plating layer is formed at least on an inner surface of the conductor-clamping portion for contact with the conductor part, the plating layer being harder than a passivation layer formed on a surface of the conductor part, and being excellent in electrical conductivity. With this construction, the hard plating layer fractures the passivation layer upon press-fastening of the conductor-clamping portion on the conductor part of the wire, thereby providing the good press-clamping condition in which any passivation layer, increasing the contact resistance, is not interposed between the press-clamping terminal and the conductor part.

  • Publication number: 20050050725
Abstract: Inwardly-directed projecting portions (2, 3) are formed in a bent manner respectively at distal ends of a pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5) which are continuous with each other, and form a wire connection portion (7) of a terminal (1). A conductor portion (9) of a wire (8) is located on the inner sides of the pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5), and the pair of clamping piece portions are pressed over an entire periphery into a circular shape, and are extended in a peripheral direction, thereby causing projecting extension portions (2?, 3?), including the projecting portions (2, 3), to bite into the conductor portion. Before the pressing operation, the pair of clamping piece portions (4, 5) may be provisionally pressed to be curved, thereby causing distal ends of the projecting portions (2, 3) to bite slightly into an outer peripheral surface of the conductor portion (9).

  • Publication number: 20040168315
Abstract: The invention comprises filling a conductive adhesive on a hole end of a wire connection part in tubular shape of the terminal which has an electric contact part at one side and the wire connection part at the other side, inserting an electric wire from a hole opening of the wire connection part toward the hole end, and reducing evenly a size of a tubular wall of the wire connection part, thereby causing the conductive adhesive to infiltrate into a space of the electric contact part or between wires. The invention also comprises tightening the tubular wall of the wire connection part by a rotary swaging process. Further, the conductive adhesive is a nickel paste which is a mixture of nickel powders in a liquid epoxy resin based binder. In addition, at least one of a core wire portion of the electric wire or the terminal is aluminum or aluminum alloy.
