  • Publication number: 20200022187
Abstract: Random access preambles (130) are grouped in accordance with one of a plurality of grouping schemes (125). Different grouping schemes (125) are associated with different types of group selection criteria. A wireless device (110) (e.g., a user equipment) determines which one of the plurality of grouping schemes (125) the random access preambles (130) are grouped in accordance with, and selects, from among groups (135) of the random access preambles (130) as defined in accordance with the determined grouping scheme (125), a group (135) based on the type of group selection criteria associated with the determined grouping scheme (125). The wireless device (110) attempts random access to a base station (105) using a random access preamble (120) selected from the selected group (135).

  • Patent number: 10470076
Abstract: A wireless device 108 and a method for mapping data packets to radio bearers in a wireless communication network 100. A Radio Network Node (RNN) 110 and the wireless device are operating in the wireless communications network. The wireless devices evaluates whether or not a data packet matches a packet filter in a first group of packet filters and/or a packet filter in a second group of packet filters. When the data packet does neither match a packet filter in the first group of packet filters nor a packet filter in the second group of packet filters, the wireless device maps the data packet to a default radio bearer.

  • Publication number: 20190158930
Abstract: The virtual broadcast system of the present invention optimizes the routing of digital content among nodes along overlay networks that are dynamically reconfigured based upon forecasts of frequently-changing congestion levels of component interconnections within an underlying network. In the context of delivering streaming video over the Internet to large numbers of concurrent users, the present invention makes efficient use of the limited capacity of congested ASN peering points by employing deep learning techniques to forecast congestion levels across those ASN peering points and, based on those forecasts, to optimize the routing of video content along dynamically reconfigured overlay networks. The virtual broadcast system handles unscheduled as well as scheduled events, streams live as well as pre-recorded events, and streams those events in real time with minimal delay in a highly scalable fashion that maintains a consistent QoE among large numbers of concurrent viewers.

  • Patent number: 10271254
Abstract: Methods for performing WLAN connection handling when a terminal is in IDLE state in 3GPP are disclosed. An example method for handling connections to two radio access technologies, according to some of the embodiments disclosed herein, is implemented by a mobile terminal and comprises determining (710) that a trigger condition has been satisfied, while the mobile terminal is connected to a first radio access network and in an idle state with respect to a second radio access network. Responsive to this trigger condition, the mobile terminal then automatically establishes or re-establishes (720) a connection to the second radio access network. In some embodiments, the first radio access network is a wireless local area network and the second radio access network is a cellular telecommunications network. More particularly, the wireless local area network may be an IEEE 802.11 network, while the cellular telecommunications network may be a 3GPP network.

  • Publication number: 20190098595
Abstract: Methods and devices for adjusting timing of uplink transmissions to a network node in a telecommunications system are provided. A user equipment (“UE”) is configurable with more than one aggregated serving cells that are divided into one or more groups of serving cells based on a timing advance value. The one or more groups of serving cells each comprises a timing reference serving cell. The reception timing of a downlink transmission from a timing reference serving cell is used as an uplink timing reference for the timing reference serving cell. The UE determines a change to a second timing reference serving cell and applies an incremental adjustment of the transmit timing of uplink transmissions for the serving cells in the group of serving cells with respect to a timing reference based on the reception timing of a downlink transmission from the second timing reference serving cell in the UE.

  • Publication number: 20190082462
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a wireless device maintains timing associated with uplink transmissions by performing steps for each of a plurality of scheduled LBT transmission opportunities. The steps include determining whether an error in a current uplink transmission timing, with respect to a reference point based on a down-link timing for a reference cell, exceeds a predetermined threshold and adjusting the timing associated with uplink transmissions, for each scheduled LBT transmission opportunity for which the error exceeds the predetermined threshold. The steps also include performing an LBT assessment to determine whether the wireless device is permitted to transmit in the scheduled LBT transmission opportunity and, for each scheduled LBT transmission opportunity in which the LBT assessment indicates that the wireless device is not permitted to transmit, reversing any adjustment to the timing associated with uplink transmissions made for that scheduled LBT transmission opportunity.
