  • Patent number: 4325047
Abstract: A temperature responsive switch is provided which comprises a pair of bimetal discs having different temperature-deformation characteristics, a pair of fixed electrical contacts and a movable electrical contact. The movable contact engages one of the fixed contacts in response to a deformation of the pair of bimetal discs or remain free from engagement with either fixed contact. The engagement of the movable contact with one or the other of the fixed contacts and the absence of its engagement with either fixed contact constitute three conditionswhich permits a detection of a temperature of at least three different regions.

  • Patent number: 4322032
Abstract: The thermally responsive valve device is comprised of a body having three passages therein, the first of which is adapted to be conected to a vacuum source while the second and third passages are each adapted to be connected to a suitable fluid operated device. The first passage is in constant fluid communication with two spaced apart fluid chambers within the body while the second and third passages are in selective communication with said chambers respectively. A valve member is located in each chamber for controlling communication of the second and third passages with their respective chambers. A pair of snapacting bimetallic disks are mounted in spaced relation within a third chamber in alignment with each other and each valve member. An operating rod is disposed in operative engagement between one of said disks and one of said valve members and a hollow tubular sleeve concentric with said rod is disposed in operative engagement between the other of said disk and the other of said valve members.

  • Patent number: 4303195
Abstract: A thermally responsive valve includes first and second bimetallic disks which are adapted to snap-over in response to first and second predetermined temperatures. First and second inlet ports are connected to vacuum and atmospheric pressure sources respectively and first and second outlet ports are connectable to first and second vacuum actuators respectively. The thermally responsive valve further includes first and second valve members, one of which controls the communication of vacuum to the first vacuum actuator in response to the snap-over action of the first bimetallic disk and the other of which controls the application of vacuum to said second vacuum actuator in response to the snap-over action of the second bimetallic disk. When communication between the vacuum source and the first and second vacuum actuators is interrupted by said first and second valve members, the first and second actuators will be then connected to the atmosphere through the second inlet port.

  • Patent number: 4250924
Abstract: An electromagnetic control valve is provided with a housing having an inlet and two outlets extending through the wall of the housing. A valve member is mounted in spaced relation from each outlet opening on a resilient member for movement into and out of engagement with a valve seat surrounding the outlet opening. An elongated valve actuator is pivoted at its mid-point between the two valve members and is provided with a projection adjacent each end disposed in contact with a respective valve member. A spring normally biases the valve actuator about its pivot point to bias one of the valve members into engagement with its associated valve seat. An electromagnet is located on the opposite side of the valve actuator from said one of said valve members to pivot the valve actuator against the force of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4211257
Abstract: A solenoid-operated fluid control valve has an armature assembly which includes a reciprocally movable platelike magnetic valve member and a seal element loosely retained by the valve member and projecting therefrom. A magnetic core defines a fluid passageway and has a valve seating surface at its one end. The valve seating surface of the magnetic core opens in a valve chamber which surrounds the side surface of the magnetic valve member to guide its movement toward and away from the valve seating surface and to maintain the seal element in alignment with the valve seating surface. The seal element has opposed conical or spherical ends and an annular recess therebetween. The seal element loosely engages with and retained by an opening of the magnetic valve member to abut concentric with the valve seating surface of the magnetic core in spite of a slight eccentricity of the assembly within the valve chamber.

  • Patent number: 4142553
Abstract: An electrothermally operated valve which comprises a housing provided thereon with first and second ports and with a hermetic chamber in communication with the respective ports, a bimetallic element having a stationary end secured to an inner wall of the housing and a movable end, a cut-off valve including a valve body fixed on the movable end of the bimetallic element to co-operate with one of the first and second ports, and a heating coil coupled with the bimetallic element and adapted to be connected with a source of electricity. When the bimetallic element is heated upon energization of the heating coil, deflection of the bimetallic element is assisted by snap action to open the cut-off valve so as to communicate the first and second ports to each other through the hermetic chamber.

  • Patent number: 4130265
Abstract: An electrically operated switching valve comprising a valve housing provided with a pair of opposed valve ports, a valve member disposed between the valve ports for co-operation therewith and a snap-action valve actuating device for actuating said valve member alternately into engagement with the valve ports. The valve actuating device includes a rectangular plate which is bent in one direction along the longitudinal center line and a strap member extending between diagonally opposite corners of the plate and secured thereto. The strap member has a length which is smaller than the diagonal dimension of the plate so that the plate is deflected under tension applied by the strap member in the opposite direction along the transverse center line of the plate. The strap member is associated with an electric heating wire so that it is heated when the wire is energized.
