  • Publication number: 20150268327
Abstract: Spatially located ultrasound beacons are provided in known locations within a distributed communication system. The ultrasound beacons are configured to emit ultrasound pulses that can be received by client devices in ultrasound communication range of the beacons. The client devices are configured to analyze the received ultrasound pulses from the beacons to determine their time-difference of arrival and as a result, their location(s) within the distributed communication system. The client devices comprise inertial navigation systems (INS) that calculate client device location as the client device moves, and when received ultrasound signals are below a predefined threshold.

  • Patent number: 9130613
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and system for supporting MIMO technologies which can require the transport of multiple spatial streams on a traditional Distributed Antenna System (DAS). According to the invention, at one end of the DAS, each spatial stream is shifted in frequency to a pre-assigned band (such as a band at a frequency lower than the native frequency) that does not overlap the band assigned to other spatial streams (or the band of any other services being carried by the DAS). Each of the spatial streams can be combined and transmitted as a combined signal over a common coaxial cable. At the other “end” of the DAS, the different streams are shifted back to their original (overlapping) frequencies but retain their individual “identities” by being radiated through physically separate antenna elements.

  • Patent number: 9026036
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and system for supporting wireless RF services over a wired digital data network infrastructure, such as an Ethernet network. The system includes a control unit that can be connected to a base station that supports one or more wireless RF services. The control unit converts the wireless RF signals to an intermediate frequency (IF) that does not interfere with the data network signals and combines the IF signals onto the cable run to a remote network device on the digital data network. The remote network device includes a multiplexer or a low pass filter and a high pass filter that separates the IF signals from the digital data signals on the downlink and combines the IF signals with digital data signals on the uplink over the cable run. The IF signals can be input to an RF module connected to the remote network device which converts the IF signals back to the original RF signals for transmission by a transceiver to wireless devices.

  • Patent number: 8982110
Abstract: Computerized method for image transformation, augmented reality and telepresence. A camera generates a stream of images of the user; a processor detects the presence of the user in the stream of images and applies adaptive transformation mapping to the stream of images captured by the camera to generate modified images that appear to be captured from a different point of view of the camera's actual point of view. The modified images are displayed on a local and/or remote monitor for telepresence. The processor can also generate an avatar having body characteristics corresponding to body characteristics of a user appearing in the images. The processor may generate the avatar by analyzing registration pointers on the images of the camera. The processor may reside in the remote location, and the camera images transmitted over a network to the processor, and the modified images transmitted back from the processor to the monitor.

  • Patent number: 8976160
Abstract: A method for operating a mirror-display including: operating the system in idle mode wherein image is displayed on the monitor and the processor awaits the presence of a user in front of the camera; once a user presence is identified, switching the operation of the mirror-display into mirror mode, wherein the camera continuously sends captured images to the processor, the processor flips the captured images to reverse right and left sides and applies transformation mapping to generate modified images that appear to mimic reflection of a mirror, and displaying the modified images on the monitor. During idle mode the camera continuously sends background images to the processor, and the user presence is identified by the processor detecting changes in the background images. The processor performs face recognition process on the captured image and interrogates a database to determine whether an account corresponding to the user exists in the database.

  • Publication number: 20140293894
Abstract: Distributed antenna systems (DASs) distributing dynamically frequency-shifted intermediate frequency (IF) radio frequency (RF) communications signals are disclosed. In embodiments disclosed herein, a dynamic bandwidth control unit (DBCU) is configured to provide a plurality of IF RF communications signals for distribution over a communications medium to one or more remote units (RUs) in a DAS. The DBCU is configured to instruct a frequency conversion controller to shift a frequency of each of a plurality of RF communications signals to non-overlapping intermediate frequencies. For at least one of the plurality of RF communications signals, the shifted, intermediate frequency is dynamically selected by the DBCU based on the frequency of at least one other RF communications signals. In this manner, the frequencies of the RF communications signals may be shifted to dynamically selected IFs in order to optimize available bandwidth of the communications medium in the DAS.

  • Publication number: 20140226900
Abstract: Computerized method for separating an object in a digital image and for performing color change on an object within a digital image. The steps include: obtaining a digital image; receiving a selection of an object within the digital image; selecting a plurality of representative pixels estimated to be within the object; calculating a representative color from the plurality of representative pixels; selecting pixels of the digital image and for each pixel calculating a Euclidian distance to the representative color and, if the Euclidian distance is within a set threshold, identifying the pixel as belonging to the object. For color change, the steps include: generating a plurality of masks, each mask storing different property values of the collection of pixels; selecting a new color; applying the plurality of masks to the new color to generate new image of the object.

  • Publication number: 20140079077
Abstract: A high frequency signal is down-converted into an intermediate frequency signal, transmitted over a limited bandwidth medium from a master unit to a remote unit and up-converted back into its original high frequency at the remote unit. The up-conversion is aided by reconstruction of a reference signal embedded at the master unit as a carrier for a management signal which is transmitted to the remote unit through the same limited bandwidth medium together with the intermediate frequency signal. The reference signal is reconstructed using a phase locked loop which includes a charge pump and is kept stable during intervals between bits and messages by a charge pump shutter.
