  • Patent number: 6182132
Abstract: A method for determining the In Service/Out of Service status of an Orchestrated Entity (OE) by each processor-based device in the Orchestrated Entity self-determining its In Service/Out of Service status. The method is rule-based and provides, in reaching a determination of In Service status by a device, greater resilience to failure of other devices comprising the OE. Resilience is determined both by the rule applied in determining In Service status and by the importance assigned to the various devices comprising the OE, that importance having an assigned value.

  • Patent number: 6170118
Abstract: A mobile, lightweight, universal collection apparatus for use with blower/vacuum units for quickly and easily collecting and storing large amounts of bulky debris or materials which is readily disassembled for conveniently storing and shipping the apparatus. The collection apparatus includes a large container, a removable lid, a disposable or reusable liner, an intake hose attachment and a base with rollers for movably supporting the container. The preferred container is comprised of one or more transparent, flat panels adapted to be readily secured together to form a cylindrical-shaped container for holding large amounts of debris or materials. The removable lid is transparent and is mounted on the container and includes a power unit connection for attaching the blower/vacuum unit, an inlet connection for attaching various intake hose attachments and an integral filter.

  • Patent number: 6126986
Abstract: The present invention provides a process that can utilize aqueous sugar-bearing sources, including food commodities, food-processing by-products, fermentation by-products, or other industrial by-products, in the making of a liquid animal feed ingredient that contains sugar and carboxylic acid salt. In general, the process according to the invention comprises mixing: (a) an aqueous sugar-bearing source characterized by having: (i) a total monosaccharide and disaccharide sugar content of at least 5.0 weight percent based on the amount of the aqueous sugar-bearing source, and more preferably, an invert sugar content of at least 5.

  • Patent number: 5722110
Abstract: The present invention involves an industrial vacuum cleaner system for the collection of large debris in industrial settings, said vacuum capable of being mounted on a wheeled frame and being carried manually. The system has a vacuum unit having an impeller housing, an impeller disposed within the impeller housing, a motor housing attached to the impeller housing, and a motor disposed within the motor housing. The system has a handle affixed to said vacuum unit, means for detachably attaching the vacuum unit to said wheeled carriage, and means for gripping and carrying the vacuum unit by hand. The system has an improved impeller having a plurality of large vanes disposed on the forward side of the impeller and a plurality of smaller vanes disposed on the reverse side of the impeller. The system has an improved impeller housing assembly having en extension spacer which increases airflow through the impeller housing.

  • Patent number: 5718079
Abstract: This invention is directed to the production of plants, plant tissues and seeds which are resistant to inhibition by an herbicide which normally inhibits the growth and development of those plants, plant tissues and plant seeds. In particular this invention is directed to altered acetohydroxyacid synthase enzymes which are resistant to inhibition by herbicides which normally inhibit the activity of the synthase before such alteration. This invention further relates to genes encoding such enzymes, and to processes for utilizing these novel genes and enzymes. Further products of the invention include plants, plant tissues and seeds which exhibit resistance to such herbicides resulting from expression of genes encoding herbicide resistant acetohydroxyacid synthase enzyme.
