  • Patent number: 9055563
Abstract: An address management method is provided, for use when a mobile terminal accesses a service from a WLAN access network, wherein the service is provided in a 3GPP network or in a service provider network via the 3GPP network. First, the mobile terminal connects to the WLAN access network. Second, the mobile terminal sends a tunnel setup request message from the WLAN access network to a network entity located in the 3GPP network, wherein the tunnel setup request message includes a service request identifier for accessing a requested service and a mobile terminal identifier. Third, the network entity receives the tunnel setup request message, and allocates an address for use by the mobile terminal to access the requested service based on the service request identifier and the mobile terminal identifier.

  • Patent number: 8934345
Abstract: A station includes a reservation request transmitter, a bandwidth request transmitter, and a data transmitter. The reservation request transmitter transmits a reservation request to an access point during a contention slot specified by the access point. The contention slot is periodically allocated by the access point. The bandwidth request transmitter transmits a bandwidth request to the access point using a first allocated bandwidth allocated to the station as a response to the reservation request. The bandwidth request has a first data structure different from a second data structure of the reservation request, and includes information indicating a required bandwidth for transmitting a data to be transmitted. The data transmitter transmits the data using a second allocated bandwidth allocated to the station based on the required bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 8848664
Abstract: A technique for flexibly performing processes depending on the type of a path for providing an additional service when there are a plurality of paths for providing additional services for the same session between terminals communicating with each other over a network is disclosed. According to the technique, when a mobile terminal (MN 100) establishes a QoS path using NSIS to a corresponding node (CN 124) on different types of data communication paths, a signaling message including information (MIE) representing the path type is created and transmitted. Each node (QNE) with an NSIS QoS function, which has received the message, identifies a plurality of QoS paths by comparing the MIE, a session identifier and a flow identifier, and performs processing of the QoS paths according to control information (CI) from MNs or/and the policy which the QNE has.

  • Patent number: 8817681
Abstract: A wireless communication terminal apparatus and wireless communication method, wherein the time necessary for implementation of handover is reduced without increasing the complexity of the configuration of the wireless communication terminal apparatus. A gap confirmation unit (105) determines to start the UE-initiated GP at the current DRX cycle in cases when the extended DRX active period is shorter than the UE-initiated GP start offset, and determines to start the UE-initiated GP at the next DRX cycle in cases when the extended DRX active period is longer than the UE-initiated GP start offset. A UE-initiated GP configuration unit (106) generates a gap pattern at the determined DRX cycle.

  • Publication number: 20140219205
Abstract: A technique is disclosed, according to which a mobile node, having a plurality of interfaces and performing communication according to flow information when an operator is performing communication based on the flow information as defined by a policy, can select an interface suitable for the flow and can perform communication. According to this technique, a mobile node (MN 10) having a plurality of interfaces has a list to indicate domain limited flows to be transmitted only within a specific network (a trusted network), and a list to indicate the trusted networks. When a certain interface performs handover, and in case there is a domain limited flow that uses the interface, it is decided whether the network of handover destination is a trusted network or not, and in case the network of the handover destination is not a trusted network, it is decided whether it is possible or not to transmit and receive the domain limited flow via another interface that is connected to the trusted network.

  • Patent number: 8666414
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for reducing delay when a mobile communication terminal starts communication and reducing consumption of a power resource of the mobile communication terminal. An MN (mobile node) (1012) has plural interfaces (IF-1 (1030) and IF-2 (1028)). One interface IF-1 is connected to a connection point (serving PoA (1008)). When switching over from communication using the IF-1 to communication using the IF-2, the MN transmits a paging request message via the IF-1 and the serving PoA to a connection point (target PoA (1010)) attempted to connect using the IF-2. The target PoA that has received the paging request message reduces a beacon transmission cycle and sets transmission slots for the MN so that the connection of the MN can be established efficiently.

  • Patent number: 8601127
Abstract: A method for performing selective updating procedure of service advertisements. In this method, a Master personal gateway (10a) chooses a Slave personal gateway (10c) to update from its service list (step 40). The Master personal gateway (10a) uses the service description stored in its service list to determine if the Slave personal gateway (10c) of PAN (21c) has the capabilities to use the service advertised (step 41). The Master personal gateway (10a) then forwards the service advertisement to the Slave personal gateway (10c) (step 42). The Slave personal gateway (10c) updates its service list and advertises the service within its PAN (21c) (step 43).

  • Publication number: 20130273938
Abstract: Conventional position estimation methods require the deployment of more fixed anchors in order to increase the accuracy in a crowded indoor environment, or they suffer from inaccuracies due to multipath fading. The present invention overcomes the problems associated with the prior arts by selecting one or more mobile nodes as virtual anchors when estimating the position of a target mobile node. This takes advantage of the fact that mobile nodes are closer to the target mobile node than the access points in most typical deployments, thus eliminating the need to deploy more access points or fixed anchors for the purpose of position determination. After obtaining an initial estimate of the position of the target mobile node, the target mobile node can serve as virtual anchors to estimate the positions of other mobile nodes, which can then be used to further refine the position estimate of the target mobile node.

  • Patent number: 8539554
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique capable of proper execution of access control based on various security policies set by a home user with regards to a packet sent from a visitor node. According to the technique, a MR (Mobile Router) 10 which manages a mobile PAN 30 determines whether a sender of a packet from a communication terminal connected to the mobile PAN is a home user's node which is allowed direct access into a home network or a visitor node (VN 31), and forwards the packet from the home user's node to an HA 20 while forwarding the packet from the visitor node to a policy server 36 located in a DMZ 35. This allows the policy server to perform access control on every packet from a visitor node which attempts to gain access into the home network based on a security policy 36a.

  • Patent number: 8520556
Abstract: A terminal apparatus minimizes traffic congestion by reducing end-to-end delay and maximizes the bandwidth available in shared N-tree ALM nodes. In this terminal apparatus, an optimal stream path information table stores N-tree session information for all nodes. A server forwarding table stores bandwidth-fair ALM route information for all nodes in a specific N-tree session. An ALM forwarding table constructor updates N-tree session information stored in an optimal stream path information table using network metrics and heuristic rules stored in a heuristic rule database, executes ALM_N-tree algorithm using updated N-tree session information, and thereby generates bandwidth-fair ALM route information.

  • Patent number: 8385263
Abstract: A technique disclosed enables a node having a plurality of interfaces to conduct connection of the plurality of interfaces simultaneously in a communication network domain. A mobile node having a plurality of interfaces connects one of the interfaces with a MAG (mobile access gateway) 11a to take part in a NetLMM domain 18 using a NetLMM protocol, and a LMA (local mobility anchor) 13 includes association information with the MAG 11a registered therein. When the mobile node connects another interface with another MAG 11b, the LMA receives a registration request for association information of this mobile node with the MAG 11b, and makes an inquiry to the already registered MAG 11a as to whether link with the mobile node is still valid or not. If the link is valid, the LMA keeps association information of the mobile node with both of the MAGs 11a and 11b.
