  • Publication number: 20230066840
Abstract: Using metadata for a contentless file to provide a guest context access to file content. Within a guest context, a file system is mounted from a container image which lacks a first file's content and which includes metadata defining properties of the first file and mapping data defining information for identifying a second file within another filesystem from which the first file's content is obtainable Based on the properties, a filesystem operation involving the first file is performed without switching to a host context, and a requested access to the first file's content is responded to. Responding includes, based on the mapping data, communicating a request for the host context to supply the first file's content and, after returning from a context switch, responding to the requested access by supplying content of the second file from guest memory page(s) which are mapped to host memory page(s) containing the second file's content.

  • Patent number: 11544095
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer storage media for providing a set of common flat files in a composite image that can be mounted as a container (i.e. composite container) to support isolation and interoperation of computing resources. Container management is provided for a container management system based on a composite image file system engine that executes composite operations. In particular, a remote sharing manager operates with a composite engine interface to support generating composite images configured for split layer memory sharing, split layer direct access memory sharing, and dynamic base images. In operation, a plurality of files and a selection of a remote sharing configuration for generating a composite image are accessed. The composite image for the plurality of files and the remoting sharing configuration is generated. The composite image is communicated to cause sharing of the composite image, sharing of the composite image is based on the remote sharing configuration.

  • Patent number: 11507534
Abstract: A file system executing on a computing device may store a placeholder for a file on secondary storage of the computing device. The placeholder may comprise a sparse data stream containing none or some of the data of the file and information which enables the remotely stored data of the file to be retrieved from the network. As some or all of the data for the file is being stored remotely, the computing device may rely on a storage virtualization provider to create metadata for the file. Thus, the file system executing on the computing device may receive, from the storage virtualization provider, a request to store metadata associated with the file. In response to this request, the file system may store the metadata as a Binary Large Object (BLOB) in a secondary data stream of the placeholder for the file.

  • Publication number: 20220260522
Abstract: To sense the translocation of a molecule through a nanopore, there is directed to an inlet of the nanopore, having a nanopore fluidic resistance, RP, a molecule disposed in a cis fluidic ionic solution having a cis fluidic access resistance, RC. The molecule is caused to translocate through the nanopore from the inlet of the nanopore to an outlet of the nanopore and to a trans fluidic ionic solution having a trans fluidic access resistance, RT. The trans fluidic access resistance, RT, is of the same order of magnitude as the nanopore fluidic resistance, RP, and both RT and RP are at least an order of magnitude greater than the cis fluidic access resistance, RC. An indication of local electrical potential is produced at a site within the nanopore sensor that is on the trans fluidic ionic solution-side of the nanopore, to sense translocation of the molecule through the nanopore.

  • Patent number: 11067534
Abstract: There is provided a multi-channel nanopore sensor having a plurality of independent nanopore sensors. Each independent nanopore sensor includes a nanopore disposed in a support structure. A fluidic connection is between a first fluidic reservoir, common to all of the independent nanopore sensors, and an inlet to the nanopore, with a first ionic solution of a first ionic concentration disposed in the first fluidic reservoir. A fluidic connection is between a second fluidic reservoir, common to all of the independent nanopore sensors, and an outlet from the nanopore, with a second ionic solution of a second ionic concentration, different than the first ionic concentration, disposed in the second fluidic reservoir. An electrical transduction element, disposed in contact with that ionic solution having a lower ionic concentration, is arranged at a site that produces an electrical signal indicative of electrical potential local to that ionic solution having a lower ionic concentration.

  • Patent number: 11061623
Abstract: Storage virtualization techniques allow files and directories to be stored remotely, for example, by a cloud storage provider, but in a manner that appears to a user or application running on a local computing device as if the files are stored locally—even though the data of those files and directories may not be resident on the local computing device. That is, the contents of files and directories that may exist in the cloud look and behave as if they were stored locally on a computing device. The level of hydration of placeholders may be monitored and operations may be performed to reduce the impact of excessive hydration on the resources of the computing device.
