  • Patent number: 9156472
Abstract: Economic cruise control where a response of a cruise control system used to control a powertrain is determined based at least in part on whether a driver of a vehicle system has selected to manage cruise control according to performance or efficient cruise control strategies. The performance strategy corresponding with fulfilling a request to accelerate or otherwise increase energy demands less efficiently, and in some cases more quickly, than if the request were to be fulfilled with the efficient cruise control strategy.

  • Patent number: 9151788
Abstract: A test probe has a probe portion, a current source lead attachment portion and a voltage sense lead attachment portion. The test probe includes two conductive halves secured together with an electrically insulating material disposed between the halves electrically insulating them from each other. Each half has an “L” shape including a probe portion and a test lead attachment portion extending perpendicularly outwardly from the probe portion, and provides the test probe with an overall “T” shape. The conductive halves can be made of copper-beryllium. Methods of providing and using the test probe can include uncoupling a male coupling member of a power cable connector of a loadbreak bushing assembly from a female coupling member of the loadbreak bushing and inserting the rod-shaped probe portion into the female coupling member.

  • Publication number: 20150260312
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for preventing excavation damage to buried infrastructure. A plurality of excavation-sensing modules is buried near the buried infrastructure. The buried infrastructure excavation-sensing modules protect and detect buried infrastructure by emitting dense clouds of visible gas when the excavation-sensing modules are activated by impact with excavation equipment. In most instances, the visible gas will be brightly colored and it may also have a strong odor. In addition to the gas released by the modules, a loud sound may also be produced by the activated excavation-sensing module. This alerts construction crews or other workers that their excavation is nearing a protected underground structure. Once installed, no maintenance or active monitoring is required.

  • Patent number: 9115685
Abstract: A generating apparatus for generating electrical power from a horizontal water flow comprises a fixed hub on a support structure and a power wheel arranged for rotation about a vertical axis about the hub. The power wheel includes rotor vanes adapted to cause rotation of the power wheel when the power wheel is subject to a substantially horizontal water flow. One or more generators are provided on the hub to produce electrical power output from rotation of the power wheel relative to the hub. A shroud is rotationally mounted on the hub and arranged to cover at least some of the rotor vanes of the power wheel, so that the water flow is concentrated on the rotor vanes on one side only of the power wheel. A directional controller holds the shroud in a predetermined rotational position relative to the hub dependent on the direction of the water flow.

  • Publication number: 20150155801
Abstract: A novel multiple induction electric motor system that separately produces synchronized variable frequency alternating current control signals and using multiple induction electric motors, produces synchronized rotating magnetic fields responsive to the control signals, induces magnetic fields around a conductor in inductive rotors responsive to the rotating magnetic fields, and applies rotational forces between the rotating magnetic fields and the induced magnetic fields to a common shaft of the multiple motors. The common shaft sums the rotational forces and transmits the rotational forces to a drive wheel. Such a system can be implemented using two, three or more synchronized induction electric motors, and respective elements thereof, wherein the stator and rotor laminations can be arranged, stacked and/or otherwise configured such that the multiple induction electric motors operate at lower temperatures and at higher efficiencies.

  • Publication number: 20150052737
Abstract: A system and method to reduce core loss in the stator of an electric motor by first preparing laminations of the stator and/or rotor in a water jetting operation, punching or stamping operation, laser cutting operation, or similar manufacturing operation, and then subjecting the laminations to a temperature treatment in a manner such that, upon assembly into a stator and/or rotor of an electric motor and operated within expected parameters, core loss is reduced. The system and method subjects the laminations to a cold bath preferably consisting of liquid nitrogen, after stamping but preferably prior to assembly, and then stacking the laminations together for assembly as a stator and/or rotor of an electric motor.

  • Patent number: 8719181
Abstract: Illustrated embodiments provide a computer implemented method, an apparatus and a computer program product in an order by proxy service for managing shipments. In one illustrative embodiment, the computer implemented method identifying a set of initial orders received at the proxy service and responsive to identifying the set of initial orders at the proxy service, identifying a set of delivery preferences associated with each order in the set of initial orders to form a set of identified delivery preferences. The computer implemented method further aggregates the set of initial orders based on the set of identified delivery preferences to produce an aggregated order, and releasing the aggregated order for shipping based on predetermined criteria to create a released order.

  • Patent number: 8688489
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for autonomously rescheduling a future meeting in response to receiving a meeting cancellation notice of a previously scheduled meeting. A meeting rescheduling logic (MRL) of a server receives a cancellation of a scheduled meeting of an identified contact. The MRL may select a highest priority meeting from a plurality of meetings that has been flagged with an auto-move-up status. The MRL determines if all attendees of the selected meeting are available to attend the meeting at the open time slot of the identified contact's calendar. Upon determining that all attendees of the selected meeting are available at the open time slot, the MRL reschedules the selected meeting at the open time slot, and notifies all attendees. Additionally, the MRL may cancel a lower priority meeting of the attendees to accommodate moving a higher priority meeting into the open time slot.

  • Publication number: 20140074506
Abstract: A server device, and related systems and methods for managing dialysis patient information. The patient information includes information relating to stages of data collection including baseline characteristics, eligibility for treatment modalities, and outcomes. A remote terminal is configured for displaying in the remote terminal a first user interface for receiving the patient information for the subject patient. The server is configured to receive from the remote terminal the patient information for the subject patient and store said patient information in a patient record in the memory, and determine, based on medical logic rules, whether the patient information is consistent with the patient record in order to proceed to a next stage of data collection, and if so permitting displaying in the remote terminal a second user interface for receiving patient information relating to the next stage of data collection.
