  • Patent number: 4257627
Abstract: A continuous business form has rows of aligned feed holes along opposite side margins for feeding the form through a data printer which simultaneously prints a complete line of type across the form. A plurality of parallel pre-printed bars of pre-selected bright and clear halftone colors extend across the form, each bar being of a constant width substantially equal to the pitch of the line of type across the form. The bars are printed on a bright white substrate and have a width of at least one-eighth inch so as to permit at the least eight lines per inch of type to be printed on the form. The bars are of at least two different repeating colors and of such a spacing as to effectively avoid confusion and minimize eye fatigue when reading lines of type spaced as closely as eight or more per inch.

  • Patent number: 4212396
Abstract: A stuffed, sealed envelope assembly has superimposed front and back plies with insert material within the envelope unattached to the plies so as to be freely disposed therein. At least one cut line or a line of perforations defining a removable portion is provided in one of the envelope plies in the vicinity of an edge of the insert to facilitate opening of the envelope for exposing the insert for extraction. Chip elements, provided for immobilizing the insert within the envelope, underlie the removable portion and are secured thereto so as to be moved away from the insert upon removal (wholly or partially) of the removable portion. An outline of a simulated flap is applied to the outer surface of the one envelope ply so as to overlie or be delimited by the cut line or line or perforations. Other fold lines may be applied to the same outer surface so as to give the impression together with the flap outline of a folded-flap envelope construction.

  • Patent number: 4193501
Abstract: A stuffed, sealed envelope assembly has superimposed front and back plies with insert material within the envelope removably attached thereto along at least one marginal edge of the insert. At least one cut line or a line of perforations is provided in only one of the envelope plies in the vicinity of another marginal edge of the insert to facilitate opening of the envelope for exposing the insert for extraction. An outline of a simulated flap is applied to the outer surface of the one envelope ply so as to overlie or be delimited by the cut line or the line of perforations. Other seam lines may be applied to the same outer surface so as to give the impression, together with the flap outline, of a folded-flap envelope construction which is capable of being opened for exposing the insert in a manner similar to that of a folded envelope.

  • Patent number: 4188189
Abstract: Errors in the radioisotope dilution assay (RIDA) of the vitamin B.sub.12 level of human blood have been traced to the presence of vitamin B.sub.12 analogues. These previously unrecognized analogues bind with proteins normally included with binding proteins used in the prior art RIDA techniques. The errors caused by the B.sub.12 analogues are avoided by using a composition for binding vitamin B.sub.12 which is substantially free of substances which bind vitamin B.sub.12 analogues. Moreover, by using both types of binders in separate assays, the amount of analogue present may be arrived at by taking the difference of the assays. Compositions that are effectively substantially pure intrinsic factor (IF) are used as binders.

  • Patent number: 4063258
Abstract: A combined vehicular spotlight and camera assembly. In a preferred form the invention comprises a housing adapted to be attached to the vehicle roof, a spotlight disposed internally of the housing to illuminate an object to be photographed and a camera associated with the spotlight and simultaneously aimed therewith. Appropriate linkage for controlling the apparatus extends into the vehicle through an appropriate orifice in the vehicle roof. Means are provided for remotely actuating the camera shutter and film advance mechanisms. In an alternate form of this invention a camera is associated with an externally located, door post-mounted spotlight, operated simultaneously therewith through linkage extending into the vehicle interior.

  • Patent number: 4010889
Abstract: A sealed envelope is pre-stuffed with at least one insert sheet which is positively held in place against any shifting movements relative to the envelope by retention elements attached only to the envelope and in abutting engagement with marginal edges of the insert sheets.
