  • Publication number: 20170250547
Abstract: A supercapacitor power unit electrically coupled to a load. The supercapacitor power unit comprises a supercapacitor bank and charging system comprising at least two supercapacitor cells and an electrical conductor. The electrical conductor couples in series at least two supercapacitors to form a supercapacitor bank. A supercapacitor bank separator circuit interrupts the conductor in a charge mode to form at least two supercapacitor bank parts. The two supercapacitor bank parts form a supercapacitor bank in a load mode when the bank separator circuit is closed. The system includes a supercapacitor charge system electrically coupled separately to each said at least two supercapacitor bank parts for charging each supercapacitor bank part. Using this configuration, a supercapacitor bank is fully recharged without need of expensive electronics to boost the voltage from a local charging system.
