Abstract: An inductive flowmeter with a permanent magnet is disclosed for electrically conductive liquids such as, for instance, sodium, comprising a pair of magnet poles which are disposed diametrically outside a pipe carrying the liquid, and electrodes which are conductively connected to the liquid. Through a new arrangement of the electrodes, not only the measured signal is increased but the dependence of the measured signal on the electric conductivity and the temperature of the liquid, is compensated.

Abstract: Novel 1-alkylideneaminouracil compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is optionally substituted hydrocarbyl which may contain hetero-atoms.R.sup.2 is hydrogen or halogen; andR.sup.3 is hydrogen or alkyl; orR.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together represent a multi-membered methylene bridge which forms, with the two carbon atoms in the 5- and 6-position of the heterocyclic structure, a fused ring which is optionally substituted by alkyl.R.sup.4 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, optionally substituted 5-membered or 6-membered heteroaryl with the hetero-atoms O, N or S; andR.sup.5 is hydrogen, alkyl or optionally substituted aryl; advantageously employ the selective herbicides in crops, e.g., in cotton or cereal crops.

Abstract: Novel 3-aryl-2-halothiopropionic acid compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is chlorine or bromine,R.sup.1 is hydrogen, a salt-forming cation, an aliphatic radical or a substituted aliphatic radical wherein the substituent is halogen, haloalkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, alkoxy-carbonyl or aryl,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen or alkylR.sup.3 is hydrogen or alkyln is an integer from 0 to 3; andR.sup.4 is halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl or nitro and wherein the radical R.sup.4, when n is 2 or 3, may be the same or different,Are outstandingly effective herbicides, exhibiting particularly selective action.

Abstract: Synergistic herbicidal compositions are provided, containing as active ingredients: (1) 3-(benzthiazol-2-yl)-1,3-dimethyl-urea of the formula ##STR1## and (2) 3-(5-n-butylsulphonyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-1,3-dimethyl-urea of the formula ##STR2## alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid or liquefied gaseous diluent or carrier.

Abstract: A drive circuit for a main contactor which opens the contactor when a voltage dip occurs and if the voltage dip is of short duration closes the contactor again but blocks reclosing if the voltage dip persists. The circuit includes means to form an undervoltage pulse which has a duration which is equal to the length of time an undervoltage is present or a predetermined maximum time which ever is shorter. As long as the undervoltage pulse is shorter than the predetermined maximum the contactor is again closed but should the undervoltage persists beyond the predetermined maximum pulse length the drive circuit is allowed to become permanently disabled until further action is taken.

Abstract: Novel 2-chloroethanephosphonic acid and 2-chloroethanethionophosphonici acid derivatives of the formula ##EQU1## wherein X is oxygen 2-chloroethanethionophosphonic sulfur; and R is aryloxy, optionally substituted with hydroxy, alkyl, halogen, or nitro, or monoarylamino, or monoalkylamino of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; exhibit marked plant growth influencing properties, e.g. inhibition or stimulation or alteration of plant growth.
