  • Publication number: 20060275835
Abstract: The present invention makes available a rapid, effective assay for screening and identifying pharmaceutically effective compounds that specifically interact with and modulate the activity of a target cell surface protein, e.g., a receptor or ion channel. The subject assay enables rapid screening of large numbers of compounds to identify those which modulate the bioactivity of the cellular proteins. The subject assays are particularly amenable for high throughput formats and are particular useful in identifying modulators of a mammalian metabotropic glutamate receptor protein.

  • Publication number: 20060079619
Abstract: A piezoelectric sheet, which comprises a matrix comprising a polyimide, silicone rubber or an epoxy resin, and a cubic lead zirconate titanate single-crystal particle dispersed in the matrix, wherein (100) plane of said single-crystal particle is oriented parallel to a plane of said sheet, and said single-crystal particle penetrates the plane of said sheet from one to the other side. Conventionally, since the constituent crystal particles are randomly oriented, properties of the crystal particles are obtained as the average values of the properties of the individual particles. In contrast, according to the piezoelectric sheet of the present invention, since the cubic PZT single-crystal particles have been disposed so that (100) axes are oriented perpendicularly to the plane of the sheet, the PZT can have the properties inherent in the (100) planes.

  • Patent number: 6849193
Abstract: An oxide etching process, particularly useful for selectively etching oxide over a feature having a non-oxide composition, such as silicon nitride and especially when that feature has a corner that is prone to faceting during the oxide etch. The invention uses a heavy perfluorocarbon, for example, hexafluorobutadiene (C4F6) or hexafluorobenzene (C6F6). The fluorocarbon together with a substantial amount of a noble gas such as argon is excited into a high-density plasma in a reactor which inductively couples plasma source power into the chamber and RF biases the pedestal electrode supporting the wafer. A more strongly polymerizing fluorocarbon such as difluoromethane (CH2F2) is added in the over etch to protect the nitride corner. Oxygen or nitrogen may be added to counteract the polymerization. The same chemistry can be used in a magnetically enhanced reactive ion etcher (MERIE) or with a remote plasma source.

  • Publication number: 20030182411
Abstract: A method for replacing a current operating software working with current files by a new operating software working with new files in a working network environment. Prior to replacement, the current operating software and current files reside in an active region of a network element, while the network element is active and maintains a prior operating software in a non-active region. The prior operating software is preserved in the non-active region and new operating software is downloaded to the non-active region and installed there while the current files are saved and updated to create updated files conforming to the new operating software. The network element is then rebooted such that the active region and the non-active region are swapped, thus replacing the current operating software working with the current files with the new operating software working with the updated files.

  • Patent number: 6613691
Abstract: An oxide etching process, particular useful for selectively etching oxide over a feature having a non-oxide composition, such as silicon nitride and especially when that feature has a corner that is prone to faceting during the oxide etch. The invention preferably uses the unsaturated 4-carbon fluorocarbons, specifically hexafluorobutadiene (C4F6), which has a below 10°C. and is commercially available. The hexafluorobutadiene together with argon is excited into a high-density plasma in a reactor which inductively couples plasma source power into the chamber and RF biases the pedestal electrode supporting the wafer. Preferably, a two-step etch is used process is used in which the above etching gas is used in the main step to provide a good vertical profile and a more strongly polymerizing fluorocarbon such as difluoromethane (CH2F2) is added in the over etch to protect the nitride corner.
