  • Patent number: 4986275
Abstract: An ultrasonic therapy apparatus includes a treating ultrasonic transducer, a driving section, an imaging ultrasonic transducer, a tomographic image forming section, and a position control section. The treating transducer is driven by the driving section, and generates a treating ultrasonic wave focused at a predetermined focal point in a body of an object to be examined. The imaging ultrasonic transducer is movably arranged, and transmits and receives an imaging ultrasonic wave for obtaining a tomographic image of the object to be examined. The tomographic image forming section drives the imaging transducer to transmit the imaging ultrasonic wave, and forms the tomographic image of the object to be examined based on an ultrasonic echo signal received by the imaging transducer.

  • Patent number: 4986259
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for disintegrating calculus having a main ultrasonic transducer for emitting a high power ultrasonic shock wave to disintegrate a kidney stone in a patient, and for emitting a weak ultrasonic shock wave, before emitting the high power ultrasonic shock wave. A sound receiver receives sounds generated by the patient's body in response to the weak ultrasonic shock wave, and converts the sounds into electrical signals. A kidney stone confirming circuit receives electrical signals from the sound receiver and determines whether the kidney stone is positioned at the focal point of the main transducer. The apparatus prevents the emission of the high power ultrasonic shock wave when the position of the kidney stone is not coincident with the focal point of the main transducer in order to prevent any harm to the patient's normal tissue.

  • Patent number: 4960107
Abstract: An ultrasonic medical treatment apparatus having an piezoelectric element for generating ultrasonic energy is provided. The element is constituted by a plurality of unit piezoelectric elements of two or more different shapes. The surface areas of these unit elements are substantially equal to each other. These unit elements can be individually removed as required.

  • Patent number: 4620546
Abstract: An ultrasound hyperthermia apparatus has a tomographic ultrasound probe for obtaining a tomographic image and a heating applicator for heating a tumor portion. A position detector is provided to detect the positional relationship of the tomographic ultrasound probe and the heating applicator with respect to a living organism, and a hot spot detector detects the position of a focusing point, i.e., a hot spot of the ultrasound radiated from the heating applicator in accordance with position data from the position detector, thereby generating an image signal indicating the hot spot. The image signal indicating the hot spot is superimposed on a tomographic image signal, and the hot spot is displayed on a TV monitor together with the tomographic image.
