  • Publication number: 20080056852
Abstract: A method for assembling a notebook including the step of storing a plurality of covers having generally the same size and shape, each cover including a front panel, a rear panel, and a flexible portion positioned between the front and rear panels. The method also includes storing a plurality of differently-sized binding mechanisms and receiving an order for a particularly-sized notebook. The method includes, in response to the order, accessing one of the covers and one of the binding mechanisms corresponding to the ordered notebook. The method further includes the step of joining the accessed cover and the accessed binding mechanism such that the flexible portion of the cover is located immediately adjacent to the binding mechanism and allows the cover to conform to the particular size of the associated binding mechanism when the notebook is in a closed position.

  • Publication number: 20070202483
Abstract: A method and system for computer-assisted analyses of best practice safety assessment generates quantitative indicators of safety performance by using a questionnaire with questions in various sections directed to different areas of safety performance evaluation. Scores are given to the questions based on answers entered by an evaluator. The scores for the questions in each section are weighted and summed to provide a section score, and the section scores are weighted and summed to generate an overall score for the assessment. The scores for the individual sections and the overall score can be compared with scores of other clients and the average scores of the industry, and expected losses can be predicted based on the scores.

  • Patent number: 6923865
Abstract: Techniques for precisely controlling the size of particles in a coating solution delivered to a coating apparatus involve continuous classification of coating particle size using a tangential flow filter assembly. The techniques may be particularly useful in the preparation of coating dispersions for manufacture of magnetic recording media. A classification technique makes use of a tangential flow filter assembly that permits delivery of coating particles below a maximum size threshold to a coating path. The filter assembly may be disposed in a circulation path that includes one or more processing devices to reduce the size of coating particles carried by a coating solution. The filter assembly enables coating particles above the maximum size threshold to be recirculated through the circulation path and subjected to repeated processing to reduce particle size to a desired size range.

  • Patent number: 6825560
Abstract: The present invention relates to electrically attaching a surface mount device to mounting structure via their respective contact pads using an attach material, such as solder or conductive epoxy, which includes a filler material. In general, the filler material is relatively solid and granular shaped, wherein the diameter of the filler material controls a mounting distance between the surface mount device and the mounting structure. The filler allows a desired distance to be maintained during initial placement of the surface mount device and any subsequent reheating.

  • Patent number: 6795031
Abstract: A wave guide scanner assembly has an antenna constructed of a parabolic dish that refelects radar signals from a transceiver and reflective plate to a target. Radar signals reflected from the target are then antenna, sent back to the reflective plate, which sends the radar signal to the transceiver. The transceiver can be positioned at the focal point of the antenna, thereby omitted the reflective plate. The radar signals are then transmitted directed to the antenna from the transceiver, and sent to the target by the antenna. Reflected radar signals are then reflected directly back to the transceiver from the antenna. The antenna oscillates back and forth.
