Abstract: In a method of reinforcing a pipe, a water penetration resistant layer and strengthening layer of fibrous material are impregnated with a curable polymer, positioned in a lining position near the pipe, and cured to form a water penetration resistant liner and a strengthening liner. The two layers can be impregnated and positioned separately or at once, for example, as a composite liner. Together, the liners provide a waterproof barrier and structural reinforcement to the resulting pipe. In a method of waterproofing a reinforced pipe, a water penetration resistant layer is impregnated with curable polymer, positioned over a previously installed reinforcing liner, and cured to form a waterproof barrier inhibiting ground water egress into the pipe. In certain embodiments of the methods, the water penetration resistant layer includes fibers woven in one of a satin weave and a twill weave.

Abstract: A method of repairing a section of a pipe including a breach in the pipe. A surface of a wall of the pipe is prepared generally around the breach. A piece of conformable material of the type capable of carrying a curable polymer is sized in relation to a size of the breach. The sized piece of conformable material is applied to the prepared surface so that the breach is covered by the piece of conformable material. The piece of conformable material is impregnated with a curable polymer. The curable polymer is cured within the piece of conformable material thereby to seal the breach against egress of groundwater into the pipe.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing a variable data capture process at a data capture device comprising a data capture module and a trigger mechanism is provided. In operation, the data capture device detects an initial activation of the trigger mechanism. In response to the activation, data capture is initiated at the data capture module. A continued activation of the trigger mechanism subsequent to the initial activation is also detected. Following the detection of the continued activation of the trigger mechanism, the device identifies an obtained gesture and performs a data capture operation based on the identified gesture.

Abstract: A method for controlling an alternative motion-based user interface in a device comprising a projector is provided. The method comprises receiving, at the device, an input comprising an instruction to switch from a previous user interface to the alternative user interface. The device then generates an image containing a plurality of selectable elements and a pointing element, and projects the image on a surface with the projector. The device detects a movement of the device, and updates the image to stabilize the plurality of selectable elements against the detected movement and to track the detected movement with the pointing element. The device projects the updated image on the surface, and selects one of the selectable elements based on a motion vector of the pointing element relative to the selectable elements. The device performs an action corresponding to the selected one of the selectable elements.

Abstract: High density films of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes having a high degree of nanotube alignment are provided. Also provided are methods of making the films and field effect transistors (FETs) that incorporate the films as conducting channel materials. The single-walled carbon nanotubes are deposited from a thin layer of organic solvent containing solubilized single-walled carbon nanotubes that is spread over the surface of an aqueous medium, inducing evaporative self-assembly upon contacting a solid substrate.

An IM contact list interface distinguishes between SMS and IM chats (and contacts), such that limitations and potential differential costs associated with the respective mediums can be identified. The system is also configured to route SMS messages into the IM contact list interface for later filtering and/or selection by the user. By providing SMS-specific categories with the IM contact list interface SMS integration operations such as routing of SMS messages can be controlled to avoid degrading the user's experience.

A curling broom head is attached to the broom head receptacle for sweeping an ice surface. The broom head includes a base section, a reflective constituent selected to reflect infrared radiation which can be a layer secured to a bottom surface of the base section, or the top of the woven fabric or both or a reflective powder incorporated into a foam pad attached to the base section, (or the foam pad being metalized), or an outer surface of an outer fabric layer being metalized and secured to the base section. Infrared radiation generated by sweeping the ice is reflected by the reflective layer back towards the ice surface for further heating the ice surface.
