  • Publication number: 20110314990
Abstract: A glass cutter is provided which can form, using a wheel, a uniform crack in glass even when a projection or an earlier-formed scribe line is present on the glass. When the wheel is moved on the glass, a fracture layer is formed causing a rib mark to be formed below the fracture layer and a crack to be formed below the rib mark. To cut the glass, the crack is required to be formed uniformly. Applying a force to resist the rotating force of the wheel makes it possible to form a uniform crack even when a projection is present on the glass. This improves glass cutting yield.

  • Patent number: 7903192
Abstract: The invention provides a display device which can reduce breaking of a TFT substrate at the time of connecting a wiring member to the TFT substrate after decreasing a thickness of the TFT substrate and a manufacturing method of the display device. A TFT substrate and a counter substrate are adhered to each other to form a display panel. After connecting a wiring member to a line connection portion of the display panel, a portion of the display panel to be etched is masked. An etching protective film formed of an organic film is applied to the masked display panel by coating. Thereafter, a mask is peeled off together with the etching protective film formed on the mask and the display panel is immersed in an etchant thus polishing an exposed surface of a glass substrate to a predetermined thickness. Thereafter, a chemical polishing protective film formed on a wiring member is removed.

  • Publication number: 20100252599
Abstract: The present invention provides a manufacturing method for a display device according to which an unused portion can be cut out without damaging the surface having an electrode terminal. The manufacturing method is for a display device having at least one display region formed between a first substrate on which an electrode terminal is formed and a second substrate made of a resin, and has the steps of creating a scribe line on the second substrate and pasting a columnar body of revolution of which the round surface is made of an elastic body and adhesive to the outer surface of the second substrate so that the second substrate is bent as the body of revolution rolls over the second substrate, which is thus cut along the scribe line.

  • Publication number: 20100245751
Abstract: When a display device is formed using a plastic substrate, a yield is increased for separating individual display devices from a mother substrate. On a mother TFT substrate, plural TFT substrates are formed each of which includes a display region and terminal portions. On a mother opposed substrate formed of a plastic substrate having a thickness of 200 ?m or less, display regions are formed so as to correspond to the display regions formed on the mother TFT substrate. On the mother opposed substrate, terminal openings are formed beforehand so as to correspond to the terminal portions formed on the mother TFT substrate. With this configuration, when the display devices are separated from the mother substrate, it is not necessary to perform half cutting for exposing the terminal portions, so that the display devices can be manufactured with high yields.
