  • Patent number: 6690827
Abstract: An shape data approximation method for reducing the amount of data with an adjacency relationship between a plurality of components maintained. The shape data is read, an adjacent region of the shape data is designated, a virtual surface and a virtual edge are created in the designated adjacent region, and each edge in the shape data is evaluated to determine a evaluation score. The evaluation score is based on a change in the shape of the adjacent region on the assumption that the virtual edge is removed. The edges are subjected to data sorting, and an edge having a low evaluation score is removed with high priority, and resulting approximate shape data is thus output.

  • Patent number: 6636647
Abstract: A first original image and a second original image are input to create a merged image. A superimpose area, which an operator designates using an input device, is set as a superimpose area. A portion of the first original image to be superimposed is determined. A superimposing process is executed by blending the first original image with the merged image with a weighted average. The setting of the superimpose area is to determine an &agr; value indicative of the degree of blend (weight) between the first original image and the merged image. The &agr; value of a portion independently present to the side of the second original image with respect to a center line is forced to be zero. The first original image is superimposed onto the merged image using the determined &agr; value.

  • Patent number: 6621924
Abstract: There is provided a contour extraction apparatus and a method thereof by which candidate data of a plurality of subjectively evaluable contour curves can be presented to a user by obtaining an accurate color projection axis and the user can be invited to make selection. An update sector extract section 31 obtains an update sector of a closed contour curve from representative points specified by a user. A color projection axis candidate calculator section 32′ calculates a plurality of color projection axes which maximizes contrast around an edge within the update sector, based on representative points 1 and 2 and an image. A contour curve generator section 33 generates a contour curve candidate list corresponding to the list of the plurality of color projection axis candidates. The contour curve candidate list generated by the contour curve generator section 33 is displayed on a display device.

  • Patent number: 6556195
Abstract: In the case a two-dimensional image (FIG. 11A) displaying a house-shaped three-dimensional object is stored in a noted buffer, when shape information indicating that a check-patterned wall is rectangular and the four apexes of the wall as characteristic points are designated by a user, a spread image (FIG. 11B) obtained by spreading the check-patterned wall onto a two-dimensional plane is generated on the basis of the shape information and characteristic points and is stored into a paste buffer. Then, a two-dimensional image of a column (FIG. 11C) is stored into the noted buffer. When shape information indicating the lateral side of the column and a predetermined point on the lateral side as a characteristic point are designated by the user, the image (FIG. 11B) stored in the paste buffer is pasted to the lateral side of the column in the noted buffer (FIG. 11D) on the basis of the shape information and characteristic point.

  • Patent number: 6543332
Abstract: In this invention, an idea is adopted in which the pressure at a forward portion and a backward portion of valve device is steppingly dropped twice. The valve device of the present invention includes, on the axis of a spool 600, a first valve 710 located nearer an inlet port and a second valve 720 located nearer an outlet port. A throttling area made by the second valve 720 is larger than a throttling area made by the first valve 710. For example, of all the pressure difference equal to 120 kg/cm2 or more reauired at the forward and backward portions of the valve device, a portion in the range where the problem of an occurrence of a foreign noise is not encountered (for example, a portion ranging from 100 to 120 kg/cm2) is undertaken by the first valve 710, and the remaining portion ranging from 20 to 30 kg/cm2 is undertaken by the second valve 720.

  • Patent number: 6535213
Abstract: Two curves indicating the border of an object in an image are simply edited and loops formed owing to edition of the curves indicating the border of an object in an image are detected and removed. A curve edition apparatus according to the present invention incorporates: converting units for converting two curves indicating positions of inner and outer boundaries of a border of an object included in an image to produce a dot sequence for each curve; a changing unit for changing the coordinates of each point by linking the dot sequence of each curve produced by the converting units; and restructuring units for restructuring the two curves from the coordinates of each point having the coordinates changed by the changing unit.

  • Patent number: 6529206
Abstract: A projected image of a three-dimensional object is displayed in a frame which is a constituent of a moving picture. Shape information concerning the shape of a surface of the three-dimensional object and a characteristic point on the projected image of the surface are designated. The projected image of the surface of the three-dimensional object is transformed into a corresponding two-dimensionally developed expanded image. Rendering is effected on an overall expanded image storage area that stores the entire part of the expanded image of the surface. A predetermined cut-out region is cut out of the overall expanded image storage area, and a retouching work such as an editorial work is effected on the expanded image, based on the content of the cut-out region. The retouched expanded image is then re-transformed back to the projected image on the frame. Three-dimensional retouching such as a three-dimensional editorial work can therefore easily be effected on a two-dimensional moving picture.

  • Patent number: 6486879
Abstract: The invention provides an image processing apparatus and method and an information providing medium by which a three-dimensional model can be plotted accurately. A model data production section performs a model data production process for shape data and surface color data of a measured object in a corresponding relationship to each other to produce model data and outputs the model data to a model data optimization program section. The model data optimization program section performs a model data optimization process for the model data supplied from the model data production section based on conditions such as a size on a display of the measurement object supplied from a model plotting section, an arithmetic processing performance and a data transmission performance to produce optimization model data, and supplies the optimization model data to the model plotting section.

  • Publication number: 20020169960
Abstract: A storage device includes a tamper-resistant module and a flash memory. In correspondence with a command, a CPU inside the tamper-resistant module judges the security of data received from the outside, then recording the data as follows: High-security and small-capacity data is recorded into a memory inside the tamper-resistant module. High-security and large-capacity data is encrypted, then being recorded into the flash memory. Low-security data is recorded as it is into the flash memory. This recording method permits large-capacity data to be stored while ensuring a security (i.e., a security level) corresponding thereto.

  • Patent number: 6434277
Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method generates, from a two-dimensional image, expanded images obtained by expanding, on a two-dimensional plane, a plurality of surfaces constituting a three-dimensional object displayed in the two-dimensional image. In the image processing apparatus and method, based on shape information of the shape of a surface among the surfaces constituting the three-dimensional object and on characteristic points in the two-dimensional image which are included in the surface, a transform expression is computed that transforms each of the surfaces constituting the three-dimensional object into one of the expanded images at the time of designation of the shape information and the characteristic points. Based on the transform expression, each of the surfaces constituting the three-dimensional object displayed in the two-dimensional image is transformed into one of the expanded images.
