  • Patent number: 5938307
Abstract: A projection display apparatus includes a light source unit for emitting light, a modulation unit for spatially modulating the light from the light source unit, and a projection lens for projecting light spatially modulated by the modulation unit on a screen so that a picture corresponding to spatial modulation in the modulation unit is formed on the screen. A deflection unit is located between the light source and the modulation unit and deflecting beams are included in the light from the light source unit toward an optical axis to prevent the beams from traveling out of the modulation unit.

  • Patent number: 5847792
Abstract: An active matrix type liquid crystal display panel comprises a first substrate having a plurality of active devices, a plurality of scanning bus lines, a plurality of data bus lines, and a plurality of pixel electrodes, a second substrate having opposed electrodes on its surface opposing to the first substrate, a first shielding film formed on top of the active devices and between the pixel electrodes on the first substrate, a second shielding film formed in at least areas opposing to semiconductor regions of the active devices on the second substrate, and liquid crystals sealed between the first substrate and the second substrate.

  • Patent number: 5838415
Abstract: A liquid crystal panel includes a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by first and second substrates, wherein a transparent film is adhered on at least one of the first and second substrates by an intervening adhesive layer, such that the adhesive layer fills defects formed on a surface of the substrate with a material having a refractive index close to the refractive index of the substrate. Further, a liquid crystal projector having an improved cooling efficiency is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5826960
Abstract: A display device includes a reflective type polarizer, a light valve, an analyzer, a mirror, and a polarization rotating film. The polarizer allows a first polarized light to pass therethrough and a second polarized light to be reflected thereby. The second polarized light is then reflected to the polarizer by the mirror, and the vibrating plane of the second polarized light is rotated by the polarization rotating film, so that the second polarized light can pass through the polarizer. The polarizer is inclined to an optical axis of the device. The mirror is arranged near the light source. This principle is also applied to a projection type color display device. In addition, a polarized light source including a lamp, a reflector, a polarizer, a mirror, and a polarization rotating film is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5764412
Abstract: Columnar prisms 22 to 24, cross sections of which are parallelograms, are arranged symmetrically on both sides of a columnar prism 21 whose cross section is an isosceles right triangle. The prisms are bonded to their adjacent prisms at polarization separation films D1 to D3 which are dielectric multilayer films. A reflective films is applied on the outermost surface of the outside prism 24. The polarization separation films D1 and D3, which are located in odd-numbered order from the prism 21, transmit incident p-polarized light and reflect incident s-polarized light, the polarization separation film D2 located in even numbered order from the prism 21 transmits the incident s-polarized light and reflects the incident p-polarized light. In order to achieve uniform polarization at the emission surface of a polarization separation/conversion device 20, a 1/2 wave plate C2 is applied on to the emission surfaces of the prisms 22 and 23.

  • Patent number: 4821887
Abstract: A rotatable stock closet for the storage of articles such as electronic parts, and the like, including a plurality of container conveying units arranged vertically one above another on a frame. Each unit includes outer and inner rails with guide channels arranged in parallel therebetween. Each unit also includes an endless traction chain and a motor driving the chain. A series of stock containers, releasably connected to the traction chain of each unit, move on and along the rails, so that any container may be quickly and easily reached by an operator by selectively operating the motor of the appropriate container conveying unit. With the traction chains and containers removed, the frame and the container conveying units can be disassembled horizontally into a drive end unit, a series of intermediate units and an idler end unit. When the traction chains are mounted, the tension of each traction chain is adjustable.
