  • Publication number: 20040004181
Abstract: A photoelectric rotary encoder includes a light source that emits a beam, a returning section that returns the emitted beam to a direction opposite to a emitting direction of the beam, and a photodetector that is disposed on a substrate on which the light source is disposed and that receives the returned beam via a disk having a detection pattern section. The photoelectric rotary encoder detects a rotation displacement of the disk based on the received signal. In this photoelectric rotary encoder, an optical element that lets a stray beam component of the beam from the light source escape to the outside via the side surface of the optical element, is disposed in front of the substrate on which the light source and the photodetector are disposed. The optical element covers the substrate to integrate the optical element and the substrate together.

  • Patent number: 6054938
Abstract: A detecting unit provided with an optical system is disposed away from a control unit formed by an electric circuit and an optical transmission/receiving means, and the detecting unit and the control unit are coupled through a transmission optical fiber. The control unit transmits to the detecting unit through the optical fiber a light wave which was subjected to the intensity modulation by a sinusoidal wave of a predetermined frequency. The transmitted light wave is branched into at least two branched optical paths within the detecting unit thereby to perform the phase modulation as to the respective light waves. The light waves passed through the respective branched optical paths are subjected to the phase modulation by the sinusoidal waves which differ in phase 1/4 period by 1/4 period from one another according to a position on a straight line or a rotation angle of a subject to be detected.

  • Patent number: 5780856
Abstract: A radiation detecting section including scintillation fibers is arranged in a one-dimensional, two-dimensional or three-dimensional manner. A multichannel amplitude analyzer can obtain an incident position of radiation in the radiation detecting section, and a radiation dose rate at the incident position depending upon a signal having amplitude according to a difference in arrival time between two input signals. A microcomputer carries out inverse problem analysis to estimate a radiation source distribution or a spatial radiation intensity distribution.

  • Patent number: 5675151
Abstract: A distribution type detector comprises scintillation fibers identical in length to each other, an optical delay fiber having a refractive index substantially identical to those of cores and claddings of the scintillation fibers, photosensitive elements, preamplifiers, constant fraction discriminators, a time-to-pulse height converter, an analog-to-digital converter, and a multichannel pulse-height analyzer. A position where a radiation falls on its corresponding scintillation fiber, is detected based on a difference between time intervals necessary for propagation of optical pulses produced in the corresponding scintillation fiber by the radiation. Thus, even if the length of each scintillation fiber is increased, position resolution can be kept high and a measuring circuit system can be simplified.

  • Patent number: 5649536
Abstract: A apparatus for measuring blood pressure of a living subject, including a blood pressure measuring device which receives a heartbeat synchronous-signal wave generated by arteries of the patient, determines respective amplitudes of successive pulses of said heartbeat-synchronous signal wave, each of which corresponds to one heartbeat of the subject, and provides as a first series of pulse amplitudes, the pulse amplitudes arranged in order of generation. The device further smoothens the first series of pulses and provides a second series of smoothened pulse amplitudes, and determines a blood pressure value based on a change in the second series. The device further provides a two-dimensional output of the first and second series, where one of the two series is superimposed on the other, and/or a representation of the degree of propriety of the measurement condition during which the measurement was performed.
