    Abstract: A pair of right-and-left brackets which extend obliquely downward and forward from respective front portions of a pair of right-and-left side frames are provided. A stiffener which extends in a vehicle width direction below a bumper beam is attached to respective front ends of the pair of right-and-left brackets. The stiffener is configured such that its front end portion slants downward and forward and has an open cross section, and its rear end portion thereof has a closed cross section. An obstacle can be prevented from coming in below a vehicle-body front portion, and also the sufficient energy absorption in a collision and the prompt flicking-up of an obstacle can properly achieved.

    Abstract: A distal end of an inserted pole makes contact with a bottom surface or tapering surface of a portion corresponding to a bottom of an insertion hole. A lever rotates about a pivot shaft, and a pressing surface facing from a recessed portion formed in the insertion hole presses a side surface portion of the pole. The pole pressed by the pressing surface is mainly received by ridge portions, particularly the ridge portions positioned on the opposite side with a central axis therebetween in relation to the pressing surface. The ridge portions are positioned on both sides of the pole with the cross section along the line A-A therebetween as viewed in the axial direction. As the lever is rotatably operated in the tightening direction, the pressing position gradually approaches the central axis, thereby increasing the pressing force.

Networks herein are also devoid of converters and include only a single direction connection between fibers at interconnect points between devices. Network devices may include ferrules, where at least some of the ferrules are devoid of an optical fiber. A method for providing an optical fiber network includes providing network devices having optical fibers for transmitting and receiving data and transmitting data using 100% of the optical fibers end-to-end across the network devices.
