  • Publication number: 20040147263
Abstract: An inter-frequency handover of a UE connection is performed in which the frequency of the uplink connection from the UE to a base station remains the same and the frequency of the downlink connection from the base station to the UE changes from a first downlink frequency to a second downlink frequency. A request for the handover is transmitted from the base station. • Publication number: 20040121777
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling a connection transfer in a cellular network having at least two systems, such as a GSM system and a WCDMA system. Based on a load determination, a service-based inter-system or inter-frequency handover of the connection to another system or to another carrier of the same system is initiated if the determined is below a threshold and service priorities are indicating it. If it exceeds the threshold, an additional load-based inter-system or inter-frequency handover can be initiated. If the load of the target cell is not known, a load estimation based on a learning process can be used to derive a probability of success of an interfrequency or inter-system handover, which may be used for deciding on the initiation of the inter-system handover. The learning process may be performed by evaluating preceding interfrequency or inter-system handovers to the target cell or preceding interfrequency or inter-system handovers from the target cell.

  • Publication number: 20040102158
Abstract: Signal strength measurements for different frequencies in different cells are calibrated in a cellular communications system. The signal strength of first and second frequencies in at least one cell of a plurality of cells is repeatedly measured. A measurement history is created for said first and second frequencies in at least the one cell. Each measurement history is based on the signal strength measurements of one of the first and second frequencies in the respective one cell. The measurement histories are stored. A respective correction factor is determined for each possible pair of first and second frequencies in at least the one cell. Each correction factor is based on the stored measurement history of the first and second frequencies in the pair. The respective correction factor for a pair of first and second frequencies cell is applied when comparing the signal strength measurements of the first and second frequencies in said pair.

  • Publication number: 20040047312
Abstract: A method and system for uplink interference avoidance that includes a network device and mobile device in a communications network. A signal characteristic of a downlink channel currently not used by the mobile device is measured to determine if the signal characteristic has increased or decreased. The signal characteristic increase or decrease is reported to the network device. The signal characteristic may be, for example, signal quality or signal strength. The interference may be, for example, adjacent channel leakage power ratio (ACLR) interference. A handover from the downlink channel currently used by the mobile device is launched thus avoiding interference in an uplink channel not currently used by the mobile device. An inter-frequency handover or an inter-system handover may be launched.

  • Publication number: 20040028606
Abstract: The invention relates to novel radiotherapeutic formulations containing 224Ra and methods for their production. The invention discloses, in particular, radiotherapeutic formulations comprising at least one salt of the isotope 224Ra, which are characterized in that the content of other radionuclides, in particular, the respective content of certain longeval radionuclides does not exceed a specific numerical value in mBq/g. The invention also relates to a method for producing radiotherapeutic formulations of this type, which is characterized by the following steps: after at least one centrifugation of an aqueous suspension of the compound 228Th(OH)4 and optionally after the resuspension of the raw sediment obtained in said centrifugation, the precipitated 228Th(OH)4 sediment is separated. The supernatant solution of a 224Ra salt that has been obtained is subsequently subjected to sterile filtration and is then made up to the required dose.

  • Publication number: 20040029532
Abstract: A method and system for soft handover detection for uplink interference avoidance that includes a network device and mobile device in a communications network. The mobile device uses a downlink carrier. A parameter, such as a signal strength or a signal quality, of the downlink carrier and one of a co-sited downlink carrier or neighboring downlink carrier is measured. A soft handover area is detected by the network device or the mobile device based on comparing the signal strength or the signal quality of the downlink carrier with the signal strength or the signal quality of one of the co-sited downlink carrier or the neighboring downlink carrier. The downlink carrier, the co-sited downlink carrier or the neighboring downlink carrier may be from a core band, (e.g., 2.0 GHz), or extension band, (e.g., 2.5 GHz), of frequencies or combination thereof. The system provides for handovers while uplink carrier interference is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20040022217
Abstract: A method and system for soft handover area detection for uplink interference avoidance that includes a network device and mobile device in a communications network. A trigger criteria threshold is determined for the mobile device. The mobile device is using a downlink carrier. If a trigger criteria has risen above or fallen below the trigger criteria threshold, inter-frequency measurements of co-sited cells are performed and compared to determine if a soft handover area exists. Co-sited cells are searched for downlink carriers and reselection is initiated from the downlink carrier to a co-sited cell downlink carrier if the co-sited cell downlink carrier is useable by the mobile device. Reselection is initiated from the downlink carrier to a non co-sited cell downlink carrier if no co-sited cell downlink carrier useable by the mobile device is found. The system provides for reselection while uplink carrier interference is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20040005890
Abstract: A method and system for cell identification for uplink interference avoidance that includes a network device and mobile device in a communications network. Inter-frequency measurements are performed by a mobile device on a downlink carrier currently not used by the mobile device. A result of the inter-frequency measurements is compared with another value. Second measurements are initiated on the downlink carrier currently not used by the mobile device based on the comparison. A cell is identified based on the second measurements. The inter-frequency measurements may include receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) measurements, received signal code power (RSCP) measurements, or average channel power-to-total signal power ratio (Ec/Io) measurements. The second measurements may include signal quality measurements.

  • Publication number: 20030224730
Abstract: A method and apparatus for selection of downlink carriers in a cellular system that includes selecting a first downlink carrier for use by a mobile node. A decision is made that the mobile node should use another downlink carrier. The mobile node is then directed by a network node to use a second downlink carrier. The first downlink carrier and second downlink carrier may be from different cells or the same cell supplying downlink frequencies. The network node may decide that the mobile node should use another downlink carrier based on several factors such as current load conditions of the cells supplying the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier, a type of service on the current downlink carrier, whether the mobile node has connection capability at frequencies of the second downlink carrier, or if a potential interference condition may exist.
