    Abstract: An electronic rack includes computing nodes arranged in a stack. Each computing node includes electronics which are liquid cooled using liquid cold plates and air cooled using fans. The electronic rack further includes cooling fans, each corresponding to a computing node to provide air cooling to the computing node. The electronic rack further includes a pair of rack supply manifold and rack return manifold, and an air-to-liquid (A/L) heat exchanger. The rack supply manifold receives cooling liquid from a coolant distribution unit (CDU). The rack return manifold receives and returns warmer liquid carrying the heat back to the CDU. The A/L heat exchanger is connected to the rack liquid supply. The rack supply manifold receives the cooling liquid from the A/L heat exchanger, then to distribute the cooling liquid to each computing node to provide liquid cooling to processors.

A method for forming the hybrid article is disclosed including disposing the core in a die, introducing a slurry having the metallic materials into a gap between the lateral surface and the die, and sintering the slurry, forming the coating. A method for closing an aperture of an article is disclosed including inserting the hybrid article into the aperture, and brazing the hybrid article to the article, welding the aperture with the hybrid article serving as weld filler, or both.

The total energy consumption includes a liquid pump energy cost and a fan energy cost. The optimal controller is to control the pump speed and fan speed at the same time to minimize the total energy cost, while keeping the processor's temperature below a predetermined reference temperature using an optimization function or model. The optimization model includes both the liquid and air cooling dynamics and converted the dynamics to a convex optimization problem. The optimization is performed to determine a set of pump speed and fan speeds such that the objective function reaches minimum, while the constraints are satisfied.

The first casting material has a different chemical composition than the second casting material. The first region and the second region are cast as one integral casting using directional solidification, and the first region and the second region have different microstructure patterns. The molded article has a lower concentration of impurities than were present in the first and second casting materials, and an interface between the first region and the second region is devoid of an oxidation layer.

The cladding layer is disposed over the at least one microcrack. A method for forming the clad article is disclosed including disposing the PSP on the article and brazing the PSP to the article. Brazing the PSP to the article forms the cladding layer disposed on the article over the at least one microcrack.

The method then evaluates the optimizing based on the optimization target.

The CDU includes a set of liquid supply and return lines coupled to room manifolds arranged within the aisle. The room manifolds are coupled to rack manifolds of each electronic rack. The rack manifolds of an electronic rack are adapted to receive a cooling liquid from the CDU via the room manifolds and to exchange the heat generated from the IT components of the electronic rack.
