    Abstract: A visual confirmation evaluating apparatus generates unobstructed state information indicating that a driver in a vehicle at an intersection is in a position capable of visually confirming roads on the right and left. This unobstructed state information is used to evaluate a safety check made by the driver, in order to improve the accuracy of the evaluation. In addition, the visual confirmation evaluating apparatus generates viewing direction information indicating a direction in which the driver of the vehicle should look at the intersection, and an appropriateness of a line of sight of the driver is evaluated using the viewing direction information.
