  • Patent number: 11422197
Abstract: A battery system includes a controller that performs a calculation to calculate an internal resistance of a battery, and executes a predetermined operation based on the result. The calculation includes obtaining a regression line through a regression analysis of a current-voltage plot obtained from voltage sensor and current sensor, and calculating the internal resistance from a slope of the regression line. The controller calculates a first internal resistance through the calculation based on a first group of detection values of the voltage and current detected a plurality of times, and calculate a second internal resistance through the calculation based on a second group of detection values. The controller executes the predetermined operation when a resistance difference between the first and second internal resistances is smaller than a reference value, and does not execute the operation when the resistance difference is larger than the reference value.

  • Patent number: 11374270
Abstract: A vehicle includes a secondary battery and a display device. The secondary battery is mounted on the vehicle as a power source. The display device is configured to display an indicator that indicates a capacity retention rate of the secondary battery at a current point in time. The capacity retention rate is a ratio of a capacity of the secondary battery at the current point in time to a reference capacity of the secondary battery. The reference capacity is set in advance based on a virtual capacity of the secondary battery after a lapse of a predetermined period from manufacture of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11353514
Abstract: An ECU sets a SOC estimated from an OCV at the time of activating a system of a vehicle as an initial SOC value in the case where the SOC during a stop of the system is higher than a first SOC, which represents the SOC estimated from the OCV at the time of activating the system by using a discharging curve line, or the SOC during the stop of the system is lower than a second SOC, which represents the SOC estimated from the OCV at the time of activating the system by using a charging curve line. The ECU sets the SOC during the stop of the system as the initial SOC value in the case where the SOC during the stop of the system is equal to or lower than the first SOC and is equal to or higher than the second SOC.

  • Publication number: 20210247450
Abstract: A battery diagnosis apparatus includes an SOC calculator, a ?SOC obtaining unit, a largest block identification unit, and a diagnosis unit. The SOC calculator calculates an SOC for each parallel cell block included in a battery assembly based on an output from a battery sensor that detects a state of the battery assembly. When charging or discharging of the battery assembly is carried out, the ?SOC obtaining unit obtains ?SOC for each parallel cell block. The largest block identification unit identifies a largest block in a diagnosis target. When a degree of deviation between ?SOC of the largest block and a ?SOC reference value exceeds a prescribed level, the diagnosis unit determines that abnormality has occurred in the largest block in the diagnosis target.

  • Publication number: 20210231745
Abstract: ECU evaluates high-rate degradation of a lithium-ion battery, using a score and an in-plane score. The score is an index for evaluating unevenness in salt concentration of an electrode body in a lamination direction of the electrode body. The in-plane score is an index for evaluating unevenness in salt concentration of the electrode body in an in-plane direction of the electrode body. For each computing cycle, ECU calculates a current score, and calculates a current in-plane score based on an SOC (State Of Charge) of the lithium-ion battery. When the absolute value of an in-plane integrated score is beyond a reference value, ECU evaluates the high-rate degradation based on the current score, the current in-plane score, and a degradation score which is obtained by integrating previous scores beyond a deadband. When the absolute value is below the reference value, ECU evaluates the high-rate degradation, based on the degradation score.

  • Patent number: 11007897
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a motor generator, a battery, and an ECU (Electronic Control Unit). The ECU is configured to calculate an evaluation value indicating a degree of progress of deterioration of the battery, the deterioration being caused by an imbalance in a salt concentration in the battery, and is configured to execute a high-rate deterioration suppressing control that raises a target SOC (State of Charge) of the battery when the battery is evaluated to be deteriorated in accordance with the evaluation value. The ECU is configured to also raise the target SOC when an actual SOC is increased due to an electric power generation by the motor generator during the execution of the high-rate deterioration suppressing control. The raised target SOC is lower than the increased actual SOC.
