    Abstract: A mechanical pencil comprises a shaft cylinder (1), a lead pipe (3) axially movably inserted into the shaft cylinder (1) and biased in a retract direction, and a chuck body (45) provided within the shaft cylinder (1) in front of the lead pipe (3) for releasably griping a writing lead (S). The lead pipe (3) and the chuck body (45) are separated, the lead pipe (3) is inserted into the shaft cylinder (1) with axial movement thereof being permitted and circumferential rotation thereof being restricted, and the chuck body (45) is positioned within the shaft cylinder (1) in front of the lead pipe (3) so as to be movable in an axial direction and circumferentially rotatable. A lead rotation mechanism (5) is provided between a back part of the chuck body (45) and a front part of the lead pipe (3).

    Abstract: A needle thread passing device is capable of being constructed in a small size for easy storage. A needle receiving member 34 has a needle insertion hole 34c and a thread insertion slit 34e forming an angle with the needle insertion hole 34c. A needle threader member 42 is movable between positions away from and close to the needle receiving member 34 and has a needle threader pin 48b that can push a thread inserted through the thread insertion slit 34e into a needle eye 52a of a needle 52 inserted into the needle insertion hole 34c when the needle threader member 42 moves from the position away from the needle receiving member 34 to position close thereto. A cover 32 can move with respect to a main body 30 containing the needle receiving member 34. The needle threader member 42 is constantly biased toward the position away from the needle receiving member 34.

A tank formed inside a rear barrel and accommodating a liquid is divided into a plurality of tank portions. In order that all the tank portions do not communicate with a tip end supply element between the tank and a pen tip, any one of a plurality of through-holes of an inner plug respectively communicating with the respective tank portions is allowed to communicate with one through-hole formed in a lateral wall of a front barrel. By rotating the rear barrel with respect to the front barrel, selected tank portion can be switched.

    Abstract: A lead cartridge that is provided with a tank part for storing leads and is capable of being detachably connected to a receiving part provided in a lead feeding mechanism of a mechanical pencil to supply a lead can reduce costs for manufacturing the lead cartridge and the number of manufacturing steps and can prevent a lead from falling out from the lead cartridge inadvertently. The lead cartridge 10 includes a case 12 and a swing cover 14. A tank part 12a is defined inside the case 12 and the tip end part of the case 12 is formed with an open tip end connection part 12b. Between the tank part 12a and the tip end connection part 12b, a lead port 12e is formed. The swing cover 14 is mounted in the case 12 swingably to a closing position where the swing cover 14 closes the lead port 12e and to an opening position where the swing cover 14 opens the lead port 12e.
