    Abstract: A semiconductor optical device includes a semiconductor substrate and a stacked body formed by at least a first cladding layer, an active region and a second cladding layer; wherein both sides of the stacked body are buried by a burying layer formed by a semi-insulating semiconductor crystal; the burying layer includes a first layer that is placed adjacent to both sides of the stacked body and a second layer that is placed adjacent to the first layer; the first layer includes Ru as a dopant; composition of the second layer is different from the composition of the first layer, or a dopant of the second layer is different from the dopant of the first layer. The device can also be configured such that the width of the active region is smaller than the width of the cladding layers of the stacked body; and a Ru-doped semi-insulating layer is provided in a space between the burying layer and the active region in both sides of the active region.

    Abstract: A mechanical pencil includes a barrel, a lead feeding mechanism disposed in the barrel to tighten and feed a lead, and a lead holder disposed between the lead feeding mechanism and a tip end of the barrel. The lead holder includes a through hole through which the lead penetrates, holding portions for holding the lead, and a contact portion for contacting an inner peripheral face of the barrel. The holding portions include a first holding portion at a front portion of the lead holder and a second holding portion at a rear portion of the lead holder. When a length of the lead becomes shorter than a distance between the lead feeding mechanism and the tip end of the barrel, the first holding portion holds the short lead and the second holding portion holds a next lead tightened by the lead feeding mechanism.

A rotating cylinder is connected to the axial cylinder so as to relatively rotatively movable, an engaging projection integrally provided on the refill, a cam groove formed in the rotating cylinder to guide the engaging projection forward and backward in unison with rotation of the rotating cylinder, and a guide groove formed in the axial cylinder to guide the engaging projection in a rotating direction.

    Abstract: A stick projecting device has a barrel as a case body comprising a front barrel and a rear barrel both of which are configured rotatably with regard to each other. A piston rod oval in section, having uncontinuous male thread portions is slidably fitted in the barrel. A driver having a female thread portion in mesh with the male thread portions is provided in the front barrel. A locking member that prevents the piston rod from turning is secured to the front barrel at a position forwardly of the driver. An inner cylinder is movably provided in the front barrel and the tip of the inner cylinder is able to be in abutment with a part of the front interior of the front barrel. A part of a stick that has been projected from the opening of the tip of the front barrel can be restored in the front barrel by a reverse turning operation of the rear barrel.

The main body part side of the closing part has an approximately U-shaped cross section made by downward bending both sides thereof and the approximately U-shaped cross section from the main body part is continued, and the base part side of the closing part is shaped like a plate, and the downward bent portion of both sides of the closing part is inserted into the inner sleeve when the clip is not swung.
