  • Patent number: 5735167
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for identifying liquid levels, in which method a capacitor is arranged into liquid in a container, between plates of which capacitor, liquid will enter in such a manner that the liquid-filled portion of the space between the plates changes with liquid levels and determines the capacitance of the capacitor. In the invention, a signal obtained from the capacitor is employed, the signal being dependent on the liquid level in the container. A coil is connected to the capacitor forming an electrical circuit with the capacitor, whereby the liquid level, while determining the capacitance of the capacitor, at the same time determines the resonance frequency of the electrical circuit. The resonance frequency is measured from outside the container inductively without a lead-through to the container.

  • Patent number: 5735169
Abstract: An attracting coil is directly wound on a non-magnetic heat-conductive sleeve and a plunger contacts the sleeve in a starter. An influence of heat generated through current flow to a motor and heat generated at the attracting coil through current flow to the attracting coil itself are transmitted and released from the attracting coil directly to the plunger. Therefore, decline of the attracting force of the attracting coil is prevented. A magnet switch is provided in the vicinity of the opposite end of a pinion of the motor. Thus, when the starter is mounted on an engine, the starter does not interfere with the engine and the mounting work is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 5735173
Abstract: There is provided a position control drive system having first and second drive units linked together and travelling on parallel running rails. A passive unit riding on a third parallel running rail is pivotally linked to one of the drive units. The pivoting link allows movement of the drive units longitudinally along the rails, but prevents movement in other directions. The pivot compensates for positional differences between the electronic positional control of the drive units and the mechanical linkage preventing the inefficiency in the electronic system, stresses in the mechanical system and, in severe cases, binding of the drive units to the rails.

  • Patent number: 5735197
Abstract: A compactor for metal articles such as cans or oil filters has a feed that receives metal articles from a hopper or feed tube and feeds them into an elongated tapered compaction die. The compaction die has a cross-sectional area that decreases or tapers from the rearward end of the die to the forward end of the die. A reciprocating ram operates near the wider end of the tapered compaction die. The articles enter the compaction die at a location forward of the ram when the ram is in a retracted position. When the ram is actuated, it moves to an extended position, thereby forcing the articles forward in the compaction die. The ram then retracts, allowing additional articles to enter the compaction die. As the ram operates in this reciprocating manner, it moves additional articles forward in the compaction die and adds them to the increasing mass of articles.
